I suspect first goal is quite important. I wouldn’t rule us out tonight. We will be up for it. And you just don’t know what they will play.

What team do you go with tonight? Maybe I'd save a few key players for league fixtures (or give them the final 20 mins) but we don't want to be mauled by Villa either.
Will Evatt go with a similar line-up to the Salford game, which was:
Dixon
Jones
Aimson
Johnston
John
Lee
Williams
Thomason (back from suspension)
Sadlier
Bödvarsson (injured)
Kachunga

∆ That was an eight-change line-up from the previous Wycombe XI. I doubt he'll do anywhere near as much rotating this time, even if Plymouth will be in his mind.
I think he'll choose Dion's fresh legs up top but it's harder to see who else he'll change. Will be very surprised if the back three changes from the usual; would be bold not to play Iredale/Bradley at WB; one assumes we'll need MJ. One of Dempsey or Morley may be sacrificed for savvy sexy Kieran, and Dixon could come in for Traf.

Ten Hag dropped Maguire last night....I think he took lead from the Insano view of dropping your captain...worked a treat...Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Tue Aug 23, 2022 1:33 pm∆ That was an eight-change line-up from the previous Wycombe XI. Maguire has been shite for ages, Santos has not.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Tue Aug 23, 2022 1:36 pmTen Hag dropped Maguire last night....I think he took lead from the Insano view of dropping your captain...worked a treat...Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Tue Aug 23, 2022 1:33 pm∆ That was an eight-change line-up from the previous Wycombe XI. I'd be pretty miffed if Dixon plays. Goalkeepers don't need resting, and Aston Villa are not a pub team like our opposition in the last round.

By contrast, hierarchy was ruthlessly asserted as Villa won 6-0 at Barrow, Arsenal 6-0 at West Brom and Southampton 8-0 at Newport. Other scare-scores from last season's competition (various rounds): Bournemouth 5-0 McDons, City 6-1 Wycombe, Brentford 7-0 Oldham, Arsenal 5-1 Sunderland.

Yep, plenty games for him in the Johnstone's Paint too. I'd be picking the best available. Sounds like he isn't dropping Santos given comments at the weekend. Hopefully the lights and cameras lift him.The_Gun wrote: ↑Tue Aug 23, 2022 1:48 pmMaguire has been shite for ages, Santos has not.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Tue Aug 23, 2022 1:36 pmTen Hag dropped Maguire last night....I think he took lead from the Insano view of dropping your captain...worked a treat...Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Tue Aug 23, 2022 1:33 pm∆ That was an eight-change line-up from the previous Wycombe XI. Traff
Jones
Santos
Johnstone
Bradley
Morley
MJ
Dempsey
Iredale
Dapo
Dion
Is what I think he will pick.
I know there are a lot of Tuesday games coming up but plenty are in the LDV Vans, so I think we can handle a few Tues-Sats with the same team, especially with five subs. It's a small risk for Plymouth, but think we need to give a good showing.
Then make changes for the Sherpa Van.

I'd agree with Pru except I'll think Lee will start instead of Morley/Dempsey.

That selection screams we want out. That midfield is a joke surely? Playing almost a full strength villa with a midfield of MJ, Lee and Kachunga. Good luck.

Yeah my 'Villa win by 2 goals' vote is feeling wildly optimistic now.

I think I'd already accepted the inevitable in the cup, but onwards and upwards for the league..
