I do like the idea of GT and Morley, two north-western lads aged 21 and 22, at the heart of the midfield; there's even a left/right balance there. But as you say, for certain games.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Fri Sep 16, 2022 8:10 pmIf you think you will dominate the ball then Morley is a good bet. If you think it will be more even then I’d say GT looks the part for those sorts of games. I do wonder against the likes of Morecambe or teams who come and sit deep whether now a midfield two of Morley and GT is the answer with Lee or Dempsey in front doing the pressing. GT and Morley can make those runs from deep better than MJ and are better when they get forward too.
But tomorrow is more one for two holders I suspect and that’s probably GT and MJ. But if Morley plays it wouldn’t be a shock. Be very very harsh on Thomason though.
All I'd 'argue' with is that players shouldn't see rotation as punishment. Thomo doesn't deserve to be 'relegated' to the bench, but Lee's performance at Ipswich didn't warrant him not getting a minute in the next game v Wycombe, Williams' efforts v Villa didn't deserve a similar overlooking for the Plymouth game, etc.
I'd argue that they shouldn't see it as a punishment but no doubt eyebrows will start to be raised when they haven't played that much. Take John & Dapo at the moment. They'll surely be questioning when they'll get a start.
I'm sure Evatt has a plan to involve them all. So I don't think its that big of an issue, but I do get the impression that Evatt will be looking at it and thinking if there are players delivering each week, lets keep that streak going.

Speaking generally rather than about any particular players, it has to be considered (it won't be of course) that all the players are employees paid to do a job. Not sure how much appearance bonuses affects that of course, but the point remains that their wages are guaranteed, selected or no. That surely, is the whole point of having squads and again, much depends on success or failure and performance contributions. Who'd be a football manager hey,? ...COME ON YOU WHITES

I'd like think it's a case of keeping them onside with the plans so they're reliable when called upon. I get the impression that we've had players before who haven't delivered when they've known their number is up, take Delfouneso for example or perhaps Sarcevic.
I don't think it's been an issue for Evatt as he seems to have managed it well for the most part as Doyle and Gordon seemed to contribute.
Thompson could've had his head turned and been looking elsewhere given game time last season but he's fought for that spot and his effort is paying dividends.
Suppose the beauty of this early season is that everyone will get a chance in the cup.

If I remember correctly, Evatt did allude to some complaints about playing minutes in a post-match interview recently. I think the suggestion was that any players who are unhappy with team selection should go to him directly rather than whinge on the training ground, or something to that effect.
So far, though, results have vindicated him and long may that continue.

I'm fairly sure I heard IE say on one of his (recent) press conferences something very akin to "we know our teams for the next three games." Can't remember the exact words, but I got the impression the players knew too.
I don't think a rotation policy should be there just to get players some game time. I'd only pick Morley for Thomo, if there was a specific reason for this opposition or Thomo was assessed as being knackered.
It's a similar argument for Dapo.

Yeah, he said that a lot early doors. Can't remember though if he said something about changing that after the Cheltenham game was nixed - something like because we hadn't played that game three days before MK it gave him more options.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Sat Sep 17, 2022 12:34 pmI'm fairly sure I heard IE say on one of his (recent) press conferences something very akin to "we know our teams for the next three games." Apparently his chasing makes up for absolutely zero attacking threat.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sat Sep 17, 2022 2:47 pmI don’t understand Kachunga playing again. Ah well. COYW.

Nice to see Lofty stood on the pitch for the minutes silence. A nice experience for him to remember for the rest of his life.

Kachunga was absolutely grappling their lad to the ground in our area from that corner. Risky.
Lovely vision from Tomo.
