"He is prepared to make any changes he deems necessary"...Bolton News on Evatt. What changes think you he may make for Cambridge....or will he not change anything?

Really hard to predict the team. Could be very similar to what faced Exeter or he could bring in Lee, Victor, Shoretire, Thomason etc…TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Sun Apr 09, 2023 8:59 pm"He is prepared to make any changes he deems necessary"...Bolton News on Evatt. I’d go with…
Traf
Bradley
R Williams (assuming John is still unwell - if he’s ok John plays)
Mbete
Johnston
Gethin
Sheehan
Morley
Lee
Jerome (if he’s fit)
Victor
I’d have those fresh legs up top and two bigger lads to help counter our defensive height issues and cope with set pieces. Charles can be introduced for half an hour or so of running.
It’s a risk. It might disrupt us. But also offers us an option to get more crosses in and be a little more direct which I think we might need to do in games like this.

A Sherlock...
Unfortunate on him though it may be sometimes, and due mainly to Bodvarson's absence, Charles (for me) is indispensable in the starting eleven. Luckily for us he seems to thrive in high energy performance game after game. Here on in every team will fight harder than Plymouth did at Wembley. We made it Carpe Diem there and we need to maintain that, classily or scruffily; get the points, Barcelona or Barrow Bridge matters not. Somebody (D.S.B?) made the point aout the emergence of Kachunga from wooden spooner to hero, well, we need others to do the same.
Against Exeter some degree of wallop ball seemed to creep in, which usually means we're losing out a bit in midfield and Ric and Eoin are a savage blow at the back. I'm least qualified to pick the team, but I'm desperately hoping that a saviour emerges in defense. Is M,J the man?
So....all that remains is a resounding thunder-clapping ....COME ON YOU WHITES...MAY THE KETTLE BE WITH YOU...
Carpe Diem!.

Hope there is some patience today - we won’t be 2-0 up after ten minutes, we’ll have to work hard to break them down. They will play for set pieces and attacks on the break. COYWM - be nice to do it in front of a full house for a change!!

Would be quite the season for another defensive stalwart to step up and shine. Weve had loads of players come good when needed. MJ would arguably be the most surprising after being out the line up for so long.TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Mon Apr 10, 2023 9:49 amA Sherlock...

John out of favour to cup winner.
Toal from obscurity to first team solidity.
Rico from illness to captaining at Wembley.
Kacha from the red mist to semi and final goalscorer.
The list goes on.
It's just a shame we've not got Dad Bod or Iredale available to make their mark. There's still time for Isgrove...
Re: Pints, Punts and Points. Home v Cambridge United, Easter Monday 3-0'clock
I'd be v surprised if Charles didn't start. He's key to everything we do, and we protect him (he hardly ever plays 90). We won't have a lot of height and they'll play off at pieces, but you can't pick your forward line at home to Cambridge solely on the basis of defending set pieces.
Suspect we'll freshen up the midfield and second striker though.

I think that qualifies as "interesting." Fingers crossed.
Re: Pints, Punts and Points. Home v Cambridge United, Easter Monday 3-0'clock
Whilst I think it absolutely makes sense to utilise the squad with such a short turnaround, that team does look like it might be a bit defensively vulnerable.
Anyway, I think this qualifies as a ‘must win’ fixture given the state of the league, so I’ll be firing up iPlayer with hope in my heart.

Fresh legs. Tons of options off the bench. Be reet.

Bit nervous we've gone with a fully changed front three. No critique of Charles, Kacha and Dempsey of course, just utilising the squad.
Jerome looked really useful for a good 5 minutes in the cup final so there's promise of more to come.
Statement of intent around the grounds with Peterborough, Wycombe and Sheffield Wednesday all getting off the mark early on.

They're trying, it's just not coming off. Some lovely passing play but the final 3rd pass is lacking
