I have no idea what will happen today and can't predict the result. What I will say is that if we lose Evatt will be under pressure straight away from 50% of the fans even after only 3 games, as we could then already be 5 points behind the top teams.
Hopefully we will get a result i.e. win or draw.

Something about striking and irons being hot occurs. Score and win. The rest is a bit immaterial . Forward and at em....

Exactly what I was expecting with that lineup. As for the bench, it was anyone's guess as to who was going to replace Morley on the bench. Obvious answer goes to Southwood.
Decent lineup, decent bench.
Lets have a win today. Charlton's had a really good start to the season despite being predicted to struggle. Lets do the Bolton thing and get a result.
As for all those that say bogey teams aren't a thing, theres clearly a mental thing with us and Wigan (whether its a derby game or not). We've been Charlton's bogey team for quite some time, I remember the 5 wins on the bounce against them when we were in the Prem, the draws when we were struggling and the five wins the bounce when Evatt came in.
I'm not saying its going to be easy today, far from it. But i'm certainly expecting us to go out there with a smile on our faces, unlike facing Wigan where the mentality is oh here goes.

Forino again preferred on the bench to Iredale, who was an unused sub vs Mansfield and hasn't played a minute since being subbed at Orient.
The others outside the 18 (barring the four injured) are Williams, Nlundulu and Coleman. Fascinated to see how many of this exclusion group get cup minutes in midweek.

Top teams, we'll see later. Teams at the top right now might not be permanent.Bertie Wooster wrote: ↑Sat Aug 24, 2024 10:33 amI have no idea what will happen today and can't predict the result. My man at the ground hasn't seen any evidence of Iredale, Coleman, Williams or Nlundulu travelling with the party at all, with Matheson being the spare "19th man" to travel.
Such exclusions are understandable - why take a long journey, etc - but maybe we start to see why Evatt was talking about some players being made aware pre-deadline of their squad status and perhaps fancying a move because of it.

I wouldn't read too much into that to be honest. Probably a case of we'll give you guys some time off knowing full well they'll be called upon to take part on Tuesday night.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Sat Aug 24, 2024 2:48 pmMy man at the ground hasn't seen any evidence of Iredale, Coleman, Williams or Nlundulu travelling with the party at all, with Matheson being the spare "19th man" to travel.

Nice open ended game here. Exciting start. Clear foul from Coventry booked, hopefully we'll get more running at him.

How do we expect to win anything when these mistakes are still in the team? Mistakes happen but that's a ridiculous pass to nobody. Even if he's going long there was nobody there.
Dog shit.
Dog shit.

Santos is overrated. People keep banging on as though he’s the best in the league. He isn’t on many levels and the biggest issue is he lacks the drive - it’s what’s between the ears.

Wouldn't mind if it was a pressured pass. It was under no pressure and freely gave the ball away.
Offensively we've been decent. Defensively we've been so questionable.
Not enough bodies in midfield for the defenders to properly clear their lines?

Missed the goal but it sounds bad.
My main takeaway since I’ve been watching is that Charles has been abysmal. He’s been stealing a living for a while.
