Schon I agree with, but dropping the captain might not be the best idea. We're also still a bit off having our "big lads" central defence pair together yet as Ric is still on the mend. The rest is still a bit Que sera...

Schon or Murphy is going to be a decision to watch.The_Gun wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2025 12:11 pmIt’s unlikely we’ll start fully clicking offensively yet, but I’d expect us to look better than at Reading , and defensively we’re already doing well. I fancy a Bolton win to nil - maybe 2-0.
Lineup wise I’d go the same as last week, but Schön in for Murphy and Matete in for Thomason. Lolos potentially in for Randall depending upon how they’ve trained this week.
Away from home to a top-10 side last week, it made sense to go for the more defensive Irishman. At home to a drop-dodger, it's a different thing.
However... Murphy was one of our main "quick outs" - Southwood sought him with kicks several times. What if, and I'm only theorising here, Schumacher wants that out-ball as a regular option? What if he thinks that having two wingers as wingbacks is too wide open?
We have, after all, been stunned at home this season by the similarly-placed Shrewsbury and Cambridge, in each case shipping two first-half goals and relying on comebacks for a bare point. (Fool me once...) And Crawley are also much more front-foot than Shrews and Cambridge, who were both largely happy to watch us tip-tap our way to 71% possession and one point. (At Crawley, our possession was 31% and we won 2-0.)
So, yeah. Notwithstanding the 'small data-sets' and 'horses for courses' caveats, I'll be watching the wingback selection with particular interest in 26 hours' time.

Tomo's suspended for two games, as a result of having more cards than Paul Daniels.TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2025 12:22 pmSchon I agree with, but dropping the captain might not be the best idea.

Looking at upcoming fixtures this is firmly in category of absolutely must win if we are to retain hopes of play offs.
Schumacher’s first home game. Players looking to impress. Fans looking to be impressed.
Pressure but hopefully we can thrive off it now rather than shrink under it.
I've actually given some thought to what the Schuey out thread might be called (I was very impressed with the "ianevattable sacking" pun). "Give Schumacher The Boot" is the best I've come up with so far. Needs a bit of work though.
Thank you very much I'm here all week

Aye as we did with the two teams below them this season at home...Cambridge 1-1, was less than a month back. 2-2 v Shrewsbury was a bit further back. On the plus side, he managed to beat Crawley away...

His pre-match was interesting. Things I took away that I liked were the notion that (going to feel a bit tarnished) Mark Hughes great at watching the game and telling him what's wonkey. Gotta be better than watching a clip-board...
Talked about the squad in his interview with Markham and felt it was maybe a bit too big, but good enough till end of season...
Obvs, good to get a full week on training ground, that might have involved bumps and bruises. I'm nearly hopeful he gets 'em up and down Winter Hill in full pack, shortly.

My only takeaway from that interview is that he managed to say this without sniggering or laughing. Indeed he expanded upon the point saying he’s had that with quite a few players.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Sat Feb 08, 2025 10:14 amOh nearly forgot Santos knob injection. Outstanding.

Wife and daughter are both unwell today, so I won't be going as I'm playing nurse.
Really disappointing to miss Schumacher's first home game. A proper "Were you there?" moment if we end up going up under him.

Yeah, this will be the start of something, much needed after the last year's malaise.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Sat Feb 08, 2025 12:56 pmWife and daughter are both unwell today, so I won't be going as I'm playing nurse.
