Miracles don't happen in football. If we play well enough ( and thereby hangs the tale) we can win. If we don't then we won't. Its that simple. Every pack of cards has a joker; we call them referees. If we get dealt a decent hand, then Que Sera.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Fri Feb 14, 2025 6:15 pmBut till then - think we should just keep hoping for a minor miracle.

I hope we stick with the back four like last Saturday. Shrews 3 at the back will suffer the same problems we have suffered which is the ball behind the wingbacks, Tutu, Schon and Cogs will be able to play in that gap if we do the 4231 again. Not having Santos' pace for the counter might be an issue, but I reckon our four wide players vs their 2 wingbacks will be a big issue for them if we play like that. Unlike most people, I thought Schon was excellent on Saturday. Really need someone to step up to the 10 though.

Didn’t think Schön was good with the ball in the 4-2-3-1 against Crawley (lots of misplaced passes and running into traffic), but his predisposition to come inside freed up the wing for Cogz, who was fantastic in finding the space.
I rather think Shuey will cautiously match Town’s 3-5-2 and play our biggest players, which unfortunately means I think he’ll start Lolos, who to me, at present, is just not good enough—particularly if his job is *shudders* to find Vic.

I really want us to win this. I’m just a bit worried we won’t. It feels like the wrong sort of game for this squad. Team that will defend well. Contains threat from set pieces. And likely will be happy to keep it tight long into the game.
Hopefully we find a way to cut them open but it’s not too disimilar to Tuesday night I think when we didn’t. Maybe Collins makes the difference?

I'm on leave for 2 weeks so expect us to hammer these and win until Saturday 1st March.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sat Feb 15, 2025 12:14 pmI really want us to win this. I’m just a bit worried we won’t. Southwood
Toal - Forester - Johnstone
Jones - Morley - Matete - Murphy
Randall - McAtee - Collins
Or some configuration thereof!
Forino back on the bench.

That was my thought. As I said against Crawley not sure I see that setup working as well away from home - with what we’ve got available. Options to switch and change it off the bench I think is a good place to be. Key is today a clean sheet. Can’t make a mistake and let them bundle one in.

I never feel as confident without Sheehan in the team, but hopefully we’ve still got enough to win.

It looks to me like a team set up specifically to counter an Ainsworth team.

Busy afternoon but first things third. Early match brew then on with the DIY, or as I call it "Operation Stop the Wife Nagging"!

Top 3 complaining at each other already.
McAtee has his arms up every time they pass the ball through midfield.

We’re making hard work of this so far and as expected, they’re slinging lots at us.
I do worry about the number of goals, or lack of them on that bench.

Not the best of starts. Still, game last 90 mins so we may grow into it. They often have tactics of growing into the game or starting out going strong.
Lets nullify them and then headup.
Johnston taken a knock already?

Have to be honest I’m not seeing where our out balls are meant to be with this system?
Re: Far from the Madding Crowd. Away at Shrewsbury, Sat 15th Feb,3-0'clock
We need to switch to the 451 asap, we don't have the players for this system.
Re: Far from the Madding Crowd. Away at Shrewsbury, Sat 15th Feb,3-0'clock
Can't be having physicality and wanting free flowing too.
They're long balling looking for the 2nd ball.
Counter is our out ball. McAtee will find a pass to Collins soon.
