Cogz is a bit like a Duracell Bunny. Just keeps going if not crocked.

I doubt Southwood needs a rest.irie Cee Bee wrote: ↑Tue Mar 11, 2025 12:59 pmBaxter, CMG, Randall, Forino, lolas, Jones, Matete haven't got much of a run recently. Southwood, Toal, Tutu, Morley, Thomo, McAtee, Collins, Cogley could all get a rest for the important game on Saturday. I dont expect Schuey to make more than 4 changes to the starting 11 for continuity, so which 4 will it be.

I doubt Cogley ever needs a rest.

We could theoretically rest both Collins and McAtee, playing Lolos with two behind him (two from Schon, Randall & CMG; possibly also Osei-Tutu, but he's played a lot recently and was less 'on it' at Burton). That might sound 'weak' for the starting XI but it's not like we're unused to coming from behind (can't rely on it forever though).
In the engine room, it depends what the data boys say. Sheehan came on in time-added-on vs Birmingham but might still be asked to do a three-game week thereafter. Morley has played every minute of the last five games, except being subbed for Sheehan v Birmingham; he seems rejuvenated but he can't keep going to the well. Thomason had the two games before Birmingham off, more or less. Matete can replace one of those three but we'll need at least one more.
At the back, it depends who's fit and what shape the coaches choose. It's to everyone's credit that the backline keeps changing but the ethos remains similarly determined; still only one clean sheet, but there's time to tighten up. I'd still prefer a left-footer on that side of a back three so I wouldn't mind retaining Murphy, who at Burton had arguably his best game (and only his second full one). Whichever of Forrester, Toal and Forino join him, I'll have confidence in them.
So one option is:
Southwood; Toal-Forino-Murphy; Cogs-Matete-Thomason-Schon; Randall, CMG; Lolos
subs: Baxter, Forrester, Morley, Sheehan, Osei-Tutu, Collins, McAtee
...but it could be owt, really...

Very rate to rotate a keeper for a league game, but I do think CMG, Forino and Matete will startirie Cee Bee wrote: ↑Tue Mar 11, 2025 12:59 pmBaxter, CMG, Randall, Forino, lolas, Jones, Matete haven't got much of a run recently. I’d rest Collins and McAtee for this. Use off the bench if needed.
Have a bit on an uneasy feeling about tonight as said by someone else it might be a game too far. Two aways back to back against teams fighting for their lives - lots of travel. Feels tough to me and gut feelings I have is we might struggle tonight.
Would trade tonight for three points Saturday (if we can’t have both).

Southwood
Toal - Forrester - Forino
JDC - Sheehan - Tomo - Murphy
CMG - Collins - Randall
I reckon. But lots of alternatives. Think he won't want to rest both McAttee and Collins at once. Think he'll want the height at the back. And won't want to break JOT. Schon also an option at LWB or either side of the 9.

I don't think he'll use Murphy at LWB. I'm sure SS intimated in a recent interview that Murphy isn't ideal in that position?

I really don’t think Schuey rates Matete.

JDC rested. Suspect he'll go for a 10k jog just to relax, given he never seems to need a rest.
I think this is Schuey's way of giving everyone at the club a chance (or at least all the first teamers that is, B-team doesn't look to be getting a sniff anytime soon).
Interesting to note that Schuey's managed Matete and Lolos before and neither of which are getting significant game time. Whether that's down to him knowing those players already, or seeing them better coming off the bench remains to be seen.
Matete's a really strange one. Guy was doing great, then dropped and not really been given a chance since that petulant red card.

Well, the one I thought he might not rest. He did.
I'm ok with the selection. We want to win every game left. This three points is no less worth three points the three on Saturday. Yes, that's a 6 pointer, but we'd look a bit morose with a slip up here and being edged out on Saturday.

Murphy didn’t know he was there. Not ideal at all.

Don't really find that much wrong with what Murphy did there. He's a tall lad and if someone ends up into your chest its probably natural movement of the arm.
Can't really fault the ref there either as it looks like a foul too.
Unfortunate start, but thankfully it's happened early on.

Murphy continuing his less-than-auspicious start with us.
Still, we're no strangers to getting results from behind.
