Unfortunately I can’t see anything other than a rousing rendition of “Bolton get battered” ringing around the stadium as injury time approaches

Getting thoroughly sick of that. Seemingly more than the players are
Obviously I can understand the pessimism - this group of players have done plenty to fuel that. However, having watched this Wigan team play live recently, I am fairly confident that we’re at least unlikely to get hammered tomorrow. They’re a very limited side, and I imagine they’ll be looking to keep things tight and nick a 1-0.

If, and it’s a huge if, we can score the first goal, I think we win the game.
Last season they were on a terrible run and we were in form. They were expecting us to hammer them and hit us with a sucker punch then got the deck chairs out
Last season is not this season.
No. We were better
Wigan were also better.

What happened last season is largely irrelevant now. We’re a better side than Wigan today, and I hope our players are going into to tonight’s game with confidence.

Lolos starts for the B team. Blimey, Schuey doesn’t fancy the lad much, does he?

Edit: Also interesting to note that there’s no Santos or Dempsey in today’s B team.

I agree. But we're a better side than Blackpool. We were a better side than Wigan last season. And this season and yet....

I just carry so little confidence in the players to get games like this over the line.

Fingers crossed some of them realise they're on their last chance

Difference for me now is I don't believe Schumacher will remotely entertain the idea that our lack of ability to win these matches is acceptable. Even if it is with limited funds he will change things. Evatt just wanted to repeat things with the same patterns and types of players, with the results being someone else's fault.

So, here we are, show time in the land of pies and pulchritude (at least if you live near the river Douglas ) to fight the good fight once again. Tall talk will gain naught unless we back it with a positive result, and it really is a case of any which way we do it. Can our heroes shake off the recent lethargy and stop looking for blame and just get stuck in and take the points? ""Nowt ventured, nowt gained " in local vernacular so venture forth bold Whites, and show a bit of effort and belief. Reet then, to battle...Now is the hour...Who is on the team sheet. COME ON YOU WHITES... :Jedi:

Wigan are like the opposite to us.
We score a lot and concede a lot, they score few and concede few.

Still, this games a random hit as per usual. Wouldn't put it past us to do another high scoring defeat. I have faith in Schumacher to sort it out long term, but this is a team struggling to be consistent or confident, so anything could happen in the derby game.

For some reason, i'm feeling a tad deluded in terms of thinking our defenders are actually good. Forrester has seemed good, Forino is good to have back, but then we look at the number of goals we've conceded this season and its shocking. The defenders may be good players, but defending as a team just isn't working.

Three defeats on the bounce, its time to turn it around, regardless of whether or not its Wiggun.

I saw it was a full fixture list tonight and started to look at the options/permutations as to what would suit us best. Then I thought bllox we just have to win and let the others sort themselves out and worry about us.

The difference is that Schumacher understands what is needed to get out this division and isn’t interested in just receiving platitudes for ‘highest possession’ or deflecting from results to say ‘but our xG was the best’.

Schumacher will be I suspect pretty miffed but will know what needs to be done.

Schon drops to bench, which means Randall. As expected, Sheehan in for Morley.

Sheehan and Randall together is a little light weight. Lots of pressure on Thomason. When do we reckon he’ll pick his yellow card up? I’m going 29 minutes.

Surely. I wasn’t going to watch, but I can’t tear myself away. It’s peeling scabs as a kid again.

• Second successive game Lolos hasn't been in the 18.
• Third successive game Murphy hasn't started (bench again, as at Blackpool, after being out of the 18 for Stockport).
• Matete back on bench (after being out of Saturday's 18), albeit presumably due to Morley's suspension.
• First time Forino's started 3 successive games for us.

Could be reading tea-leaves but it feels a bit like Schumacher is zeroing in on who he fancies.

I firmly believe that if we score the first goal we’ll go on to win, so let’s get straight into them from the off.

Come on you fecking white men!

There’s not enough of a contrast between the kits.
