Awards should take place because the club is full of awesome staff and successful women’s and youth teams but the first team shouldn’t be involved in any way.

Happy with that - watch, no awards for them.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Mon Apr 28, 2025 3:42 pmI'd make 'em watch, tbf.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Mon Apr 28, 2025 3:36 pmAwards should take place because the club is full of awesome staff and successful women’s and youth teams but the first team shouldn’t be involved in any way.

Aye' well we're back to that "supporters" meaning again. The players may actually read this forum, who knows?.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Mon Apr 28, 2025 4:27 pmHappy with that - watch, no awards for them.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Mon Apr 28, 2025 3:42 pmI'd make 'em watch, tbf.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Mon Apr 28, 2025 3:36 pmAwards should take place because the club is full of awesome staff and successful women’s and youth teams but the first team shouldn’t be involved in any way.

Supporters of the club not the players. They are just transient mercenaries who come and go, and in many cases net takers rather than givers,TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Mon Apr 28, 2025 4:48 pmAye' well we're back to that "supporters" meaning again. So that. The club is not whatever set of current players happen to be being remunerated by it.
And secondly what awards do you want to give out? One of the top ten worst seasons in our history statistically, not sure that merits any awards for the first team. Forino has shown in his interview the correct assessment. He’s not asking for support he’s accepting it’s been a failure and fronting that fact up. I’d suggest that is the only way they can move forwards.

I was actually away this weekend with someone who knows McAtee well. His son his one of his best friends. He's proper down in the dumps and thinks the fans hate him, which really hurts him and he's worried we've got the wrong impression of him as a person. Desperate to do well and acknowledges that he's not relaxed and forcing things and it's making it worse.. Kind of hit home a little bit.. Maybe we need to get behind the ones who you can tell it means something toTANGODANCER wrote: ↑Mon Apr 28, 2025 4:48 pmAye' well we're back to that "supporters" meaning again. This one comes up quite often. Is he expecting a big roar every time he receives the ball? I certainly don't hate him, that'd be like hard work. I mean if they get the bird at half time (not a fan of that), but that's usually as a team. What is the expectation?

For him to score goals or assists. I agree, If the team lose they all get thumbs down, but that's football team disappointment, not player hatred. Same with Collins, Two goals, even two team wins and the jeers become cheers. COME ON YOU WHITES..Worthy4England wrote: ↑Mon Apr 28, 2025 6:36 pmThis one comes up quite often. Sorry TD, that wasn't my poorly phrased question. What does he expect of supporters?

Personal abuse of players is nothing new, but unfortunately it’s been massively amplified with the dawn of social media. I’m sure the players know what to expect, but if you’ve got a load of blokes telling you that you’re shit at your job, it still can’t be much fun.boltonboris wrote: ↑Mon Apr 28, 2025 5:14 pmI was actually away this weekend with someone who knows McAtee well. I don’t think McAtee has been amazing this season, but he’s not alone in that regard, and I’m genuinely pleased to know that he cares. He’s shown enough to make me believe he could be part of a successful team here next season, and I hope he channels his current emotions into hard work this summer.

Being upset or annoyed that social media aren’t fawning over you is very different to caring. If you care then you put the work in over the summer to learn the absolute basics of how to be a striker in league one. There is no excuse for his inability to jump for the ball or hold it up. He’s 25. The fact he’s unable to do the basics suggests he hasn’t put the work in thus far. 18 year olds can do what he can’t. As worthy says what does he want? They’d be best off ignoring social media and simply putting their heads down and doing proper graft. Thats grafting night and day to get better.

^^ Yeah, I dunno what "support them," actually means, is it just applaud whatever is going on on the pitch, stop giving him direct hassle through social media. I would think most on here confine their opinions to on here rather than giving some player direct abuse on SM. Nowt to back that up. We know, like many clubs, we have some dickheads, but there isn't much we can do about that.

My own support has wavered for this one I'm afraid. We've not missed a home match all year in any competition and managed a handful of aways but a long weekend away was too attractive to pass up. 2-1 win.

I presume he reads stuff on social media and he did say he gets sent a lot of personal abuseWorthy4England wrote: ↑Mon Apr 28, 2025 6:36 pmThis one comes up quite often. Not a fan of either. Doubt I'd spend any time there were I a footballer...boltonboris wrote: ↑Tue Apr 29, 2025 11:39 amI presume he reads stuff on social media and he did say he gets sent a lot of personal abuseWorthy4England wrote: ↑Mon Apr 28, 2025 6:36 pmThis one comes up quite often. Re: Pointing the way. Stevenage at home Sat, 3rd May 3-0'clock
There is definitely a capable player in McAtee, he's physical, big & aggressive with a good shot on him - as has been mentioned several times for a 6ft plus guy his heading & jumping for headers is abysmal, he rarely gets his feet off the ground, I think that his general movement around the pitch is quite poor and his passing is also poor.
He's scored a few good goals this season and has a powerful shot on him, but its the easy misses (like the one rounding the keeper on Saturday and hitting the post). I suspect that this is the main reason for his lack of popularity amongst supporters at the moment, he does appear to miss quite a few easy chances (as does Collins). I think most fans were expecting much better from him when we signed him. I also don't think anyone knows what his most effective position is.

I thought McAtee had one of his better games on Saturday. Best game for a long time from him. Was it not his flick on from the corner that led to goal? I believe so which is a shocker, as he hardly ever wants the ball to touch his head. But those misses.. there is hope that Schuey can make him tick with a good preseason. He is one of those who stays fit.

In other news, U18's won their league today too under Jules. 1st XI going to be doing a lot of watching at the annual awards ceremony. Goal for Adimbola too - nice way to round off a couple of great weeks for the young 'un.
