Sunderland aren't a rival, they're in the top half. True, they're catchable, but unlike in October, selling to them now is not significantly strengthening a relegation rival. I'd be more worried if Wigan or Wolves were the destination.

My heart will always have warm memories of Davo, and I think he may have the odd cameo role to play, but hard-headed business sense says that £1.5m fee plus £1m ish in wages could be reinvested elsewhere.

Yeah, buisness wise it's makes perfect sense to sell.

However, there's no way I want to see Kev play for any other team in the Premiership, let alone Sunderland.

Give him a coaching role or something. Maybe there's a job in the canteen that he could do.

I suspect KD would rather still be playing for as long as he has the opportunity than coaching or serving tea and muffins....

what makes you think he'd be any good as a coach anyway?

Yeah it was pretty much tongue in cheek... Any excuse to keep him at the club.

If we can give Robbie Blake a one-year extension we should be able to do the same for Kev.

The issue is that he wants to play. So, it's not really an issue of whether or not we should sell. It's more that he may/may not walk out on us... or the reason his one-year extension was taken back could be that he's blatantly not happy on the bench.

Has he become stale at t'Reebok? Can see him leaving now or on a bosman in search of a fresh challenge.

... and from his point of view if he is offered n 18m contract, on high wages, we aren't going to do that come summer. Now he could just sit it out & get a share of that potential fee as a sign on in June & move on a Bosman but I suspect he isn't happy unless he's #1 choice.

aye... and i suspect he knows that if he gets virtually no game-time for the rest of this season - then he will rust away and never get back to anything approximating match-fitness come August...

Agreed, and I'm probably the most anti-Davies poster on here.

He put in the effort levels that he used to when he had a point to prove when he first signed for us. This much-needed kick up the arse from Coyle should have happened three years ago when Ginger Tosser was still in charge.

He certainly did do wll in that cameo. Won many a flick, found space & looked to link up very well. Not what we've been seeing.

That could be due to having a determination to show that he should start, or having the energy for 20, 25 minute periods that he doesn't or 90m. Could be that the Swansea players, many not starters, weren't up for him.

What I did (or, rather didn't) notice was any sign of him looking like that was it after 8.5 years.

There was no show of emotion, of clapping all 4 ends, of response to the fans.

So if he's off he's going with no show.
