How fxcking pathetic...malcd1 wrote:People in glasshouses shouldn't throw stones.
I know some people who go on a Bolton Wanderers forum to post messages about football and other things. They have posted litrally thousands of comments to people who they don't even know. How sad is that!

Oh! you mean me...

I don't use twitter. I've signed up for it before, but it's never really had any use for me. That said, it clearly does for some people, and it clearly does beyond just banal celebrity shite. When I did use it I followed bands for tour dates, TV programmes for when new series are out, that kind of thing. I decided it wasn't worth the hassle for me, but it clearly is loved by a lot of people. Don't get why people get so annoyed by it, if you don't like it, don't use it.
Granted I'm not a big fan of how everyone and everything has to some how be seen to be 'interacting' with it. 'Tweet us your thoughts'. No. Don't. No-one cares. F*ck off 'The News', stop asking idiots for their opinions. You aren't about opinions. You are 'The News'.
Otherwise though, carry on. It's been going on years, despite seemingly all evidence pointing towards the contrary, it has turned out not to be a fad.

Re: Worthy's better class of transfer thread
I get out plenty. I don't know that many Bolton fans, living in Manchester. So on days that aren't matchdays it's useful and enjoyable interaction for me. So don't go on trying to belittle me and acting like a c*nt.BL3 wrote:If you're relying on Twitter for 'social interaction', you need to get out more.boltonboris wrote:Like others have said, I don't see the problem. Other than a bunch of fossils pretending they've got better things to do than socially interact. "Oooh.. No, I don't like new things"
And Bish. I no longer use Facebook, because as you pointed out on another thread it's filled with people who antagonise minorities with ridiculous pages like the "try burning this" shite. And the last straw for me, which was a picture of a dead child with the tag line "Like this if you're against child abuse, carry on scrolling if you're not against it". Idiots feel compelled to 'like' it to 'show support' which then filters on to the news feed of everybody they know. So...
I follow the Official BWFC account (the official site is a bag of wank and doesn't work too well on my phone) a couple of players, some journalists and other fans. It's like asking "why do you come on this forum"
"I've got the ball now. It's a bit worn, but I've got it"
Re: Worthy's better class of transfer thread
not knocking it - it was a genuine question - cos I followed the official bwfc account for a while - but i didn't find it to be much/any faster than hearing it on here... I guess that's cos I am relying on others to hear in via tweets and then post it here!boltonboris wrote:

also - i haven't yet got into the habit of looking at internet stuff very much whilst out and about on my phone - and (it seems to me) using twitter seems to be one of those things where you need to look at your phone often to get the benefit...
I'm not sure I'll ever get into that habit, though I have said that about other things in the past!!
I know people whose phones beep for tweet-arrival alerts. if you follow lots of tweeters - then that must happen every second...
I also followed some of the witty people DSB recommended - he had a good list - and I do sometimes go on and have a look at that - but it is usually me catching up with several weeks' worth of stuff at a time!!
I don't post tweets myself - i use my fb status for all the urgent and interesting things I am doing that others need to hear about!

Re: Worthy's better class of transfer thread
Alot of people also just browse through hashtags on the odd chance of picking up sumat new here and there (especially during transfer windows). For example if you were to search #bwfc on twitter at any time during January you'd be inundated with posts from fellow fans and supposed ITK-ers claiming to have seen various players at the airport/reebok/nandos etc.thebish wrote:not knocking it - it was a genuine question - cos I followed the official bwfc account for a while - but i didn't find it to be much/any faster than hearing it on here... As opposed to interacting with real people? Then again it's easier to call someone a c*nt from behind a keyboard isn't it?boltonboris wrote:I don't know that many Bolton fans, living in Manchester. Why on earth other folk think it is any of their business how other people 'interact' is beyond me.

It is literally impossible to have a twitter account AND know real people. That's a Rafa Benitez-certified FACT.

hmmm... seems to me that you should wind your neck in BL3.... it does seem a little bit daft to criticise someone for interacting with people electronically and suggesting it is better to interact with "real people" and to do that from "behind a keyboard" whilst typing under a false name on an internet forum yourself...BL3 wrote:As opposed to interacting with real people? Re: Worthy's better class of transfer thread
Of my circle of friends only 3 use twitter and as far as I know rarely post. I dare say if more of them did and posted (especially those who live far away and I see rarely) I'd definitely join it.
And I think given what BB has said twitter as being a collection of people with similar interests, it may well be the death of forums such as these in the long run.....

That's the problem. They behave as if they are interacting with robots. They lack the social skills which might be developed by talking to someone face to face. Perhaps that's why they feel more comfortable in a virtual world rather than in the real one.Prufrock wrote:Particularly when they are being.BL3 wrote:As opposed to interacting with real people? You clearly have confidence you yourself can combine an online persona with the social skillz developed by talking to people face to face. What do you think stops somebody being able to do the same with twitter? How many people do you think you know who never interact with real people?
You're throwing out some pretty wide aspersions there, based on not a great deal at all!
I'm sure Boris can defend himself, so I'm not going to go into that other than to say, do you know him? If not, why are you so superior Captain Posts on and Internet Forum?

Re: Worthy's better class of transfer thread
Is there any difference between going on Twitter and using this site? It's still talking to people who you don't know over the internet. I'm not sure why forums are acceptable but Twitter is for weirdos with no life.
Re: Worthy's better class of transfer thread
I'm criticising the idea that it qualifies as some sort of 'social interaction'. If it does, then it's on a very superficial level. 'New' does not necessarily mean better.thebish wrote:hmmm... seems to me that you should wind your neck in BL3.... it does seem a little bit daft to criticise someone for interacting with people electronically and suggesting it is better to interact with "real people" and to do that from "behind a keyboard" whilst typing under a false name on an internet forum yourself...BL3 wrote:As opposed to interacting with real people? I think it does. How very superficial of you to post on here BL3.

Re: Worthy's better class of transfer thread
thats the thing, i CBA reading any post on here longer than a couple of lines, and info is shoved away in millions of different threads which makes it more difficult to access. I made a suggestion once (to much disapproval) that the forum should only display a limited no of characters, with a 'read more' option if the opening was enough to intrigue you... but i suppose this is why both formats exist?Prufrock wrote:Nah.
