Re: Pun free Leicester thread
3 goals away against Leicester is good going. This isn't a disaster, I expected much worse tbf.
He took Hall off to give Baptiste half a chance against Dyer. For me, that's a tactically sound decision.
The situation Gartside has supervised us into won't be righted overnight so get used to it. Endlessly whining every time we lose achieves nothing. We over achieved for ten years, mid table obscurity is the new reality.

What a fecking achievement....I hope there's a civic reception and a bus tour of the town to celebrate such an achievement in finishing mid table in the championship despite having one of the highest wage bills in the league.Bijou Bob wrote:Trust me, that's where we'll finish.
Perhaps that was the aim all along....what an ambitious club we are, so proud !

We're a small northern town with a limited fan base and no foreign backers. What do you expect PT??

Re: Pun free Leicester thread
Got back about 1hr ago. Not only did we let in five but we had our keeper save a pengie, they hit the post from a free-kick and missed an open goal with the rebound. Baptiste had his arse handed to him on a silver salver by their No. 11. I believe that the lad's a reknowned nuisance, but fecking hell, it was embarrassing. Oh, and Douglas, we scored three through running at the oppostion - has this registered yet? That said - where and when were these "other chances" of which you speak?TANGODANCER wrote:Not disappointed by a defence that let five in?Annoyed Grunt wrote:“@OfficialBWFC: DF: "We’ve come to Leicester, scored three goals and had opportunities to score more, so I’m not going to be too disappointed." #LEIvBOL”

Re: Pun free Leicester thread
What a totally mad game... Our bunch left feeling a bit sore at the defeat but exhilarated by the first half performance. Like, we can actually attack, and effectively, and score. Nice.
Baptiste struggled terribly against the threat from Dyer, who is very, very pacey. The substitution of Hall by Pratley was to help contend with this threat, was the correct decision, and certainly helped.
We were in contention for pretty much the whole game but never really in command. In the second half Leicester were in command, ut we always made them work for it.
Many of the comments above are misplaced - we were playing the top of the division, at their ground, in front of a 26000 crowd that was very quiet and anxious for much of the game. We lost, but not miserably. We lost, but we competed. Away at the division leaders. We did not surrender, ever.
Those of us that went saw enough to make us feel good about the team's spirit, and happy to have been at an extraordinary game.

fecking annoyed is an understatement. Leicesters defence was a shite as ours yet they went for it. We could have left it as is and played 10 mins to see if we could have scored.
I doubt it. Hall wasn't having any real effect on the game - he wasn't in it - a huge problem needed to be sorted at right back - Pratley coming on to add some steel and help out was the right move... had he left it as it was it would have been 9-3.
all the subs made sense today.
we need a right back....

TANGODANCER wrote:I'll wait for the match lads reports, but it sounds to me that Dougie really isn't firing us up. Commentators even sound jaded, we can't get or keep the ball and where's the heart that Bolton always had? We just don't seem to have any confidence or real fight. Like I said, I'll wait for the match goers but it sounds pretty grim. Lose 5-3 after being 3-2 up....? Internet Explorer decided to pack up with a couple of minutes to go. Typical. I've supported Bolton all my life but never felt quite as jaded as right now. Nice-guy managers just aren't doing the trick. We need an Allardyce to fire the players up, not a silent assasin.
i don't think we lacked heart today - they didn't look jaded or un-fired-up, you'll be pleased to know. we were not lacking confidence or fight.
we lack a proper right back and possibly a Dawson-character - and the medo AND spearing combo doesn't work...

He isn't being forced at gunpoint to pick them both. Which kind of reinforces Tango's point.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Re right back - he signed 2 in the summer and 1 on loan (who he has said he isnt desperate to re-sign). If you were pumping money in would you let him spend more on this position?
WTW - comments re effort noted. 100% is all you can ask for.

Tell u what Bob if this is so called reality....they may as well lock the fecking gates and turn off the lights at the Reebok.Bijou Bob wrote:We're a small northern town with a limited fan base and no foreign backers. What do you expect PT??
Is there really any point in carrying on as a football club if we can't expect some progress and the ocassional flirt with the big boys.
BTW I admit we have loads of utd, city, l/pool fans in the town that affect our support....but a small northern town we are certainly not.
