Ideally we need someone in before Tuesday IMO, after today the team & fans will be on a high. With a new manager using the momentum from today it would be an ideal game for a new manager. Nothing wrong if its Jules on Tues, but we need to utilise the time remaining in the transfer window hence needing the new guy in ASAP

Jules deffo is doing the game Tuesday. Iles has confirmed it. Doesn’t mean I guess a decision won’t be made before then however what I’ve heard is that we are currently not close to a decision and still haven’t finalised a shortlist. So shortlist, arrange interviews, speak to agents etc….my best guess is end of next week at earliest.Bertie Wooster wrote: ↑Sat Jan 25, 2025 5:03 pmIdeally we need someone in before Tuesday IMO, after today the team & fans will be on a high. Absolutely the best post match interview I’ve ever heard. Every bit of it.
Will say this. Today Sharon has seen the real Bolton wanderers. What it can be. What it should be. She’s not seen it before. Not really. So in a way whilst I know we need to get a move on with a new manager I also hope it influences thinking. Bolton need a team that goes out and fights, that aren’t carrying small technical luxuries. We need to compete. To have a spirit and a fight. And some good players. We don’t need to over coach players or teams to the point of exhaustion or ever allow ourselves the indulgence of thinking we are so good we don’t need to engage in the physical fight. Today is what this club is about.
Sharon please take note. You were deceived by a con man for years. You have to accept that before you can understand how to fix it.

If that's the case then Ms Brittan should have been at the bond holders meeting last night, her excuse for not attending was around the new manager recruitment process, interviews etc.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sat Jan 25, 2025 5:09 pmJules deffo is doing the game Tuesday. I imagine she’s quite busy speaking to managers, agents, the board, Markham etc….it will be a proper process not Sharon just deciding who she wants and offering them a contract. There will be a lot involved in it. Not unlike normal recruitment.Bertie Wooster wrote: ↑Sat Jan 25, 2025 5:24 pmIf that's the case then Ms Brittan should have been at the bond holders meeting last night, her excuse for not attending was around the new manager recruitment process, interviews etc.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sat Jan 25, 2025 5:09 pmJules deffo is doing the game Tuesday. I also think there was zero chance she was going to that meeting once Evatt went regardless of schedule. I hope she’s not sulking. But today shows her why it was long overdue.

Give over man! 35000 of us at Wembley as we won 4-0 will have given her some idea.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sat Jan 25, 2025 5:23 pm

Today was genuinely special.
Jules clapping the fans as we chanted "He's one of our own...", everyone winding Dion up, all the players giving 100% and an away win.
Jules came out after the match and was talking to (I assume) some of his family and it was fantastic to see him interacting with a kid in a pram as a normal grandad, "Did you watch some football today? Wow!"
Huddersfield suited us, with our big defenders all injured the fact they rely on munchkins upfront was a blessing and we got away with allowing too many crosses in; but it wasn't about that stuff today. Just one of the best away days I've had. Passion in all of it, from stand to pitch to dugout. Loved it.

Yeah but I’d say that’s like comparing Wembley under Neal in a tinpot cup to the white hot years. Wembley was nice and all but it was a bit of a mirage. Anyway onwards and upwards.Harry Genshaw wrote: ↑Sat Jan 25, 2025 5:45 pmGive over man! 35000 of us at Wembley as we won 4-0 will have given her some idea.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sat Jan 25, 2025 5:23 pm

I wouldn't give it to Julian for the sake of his health, if he's doing it until May he'll be sleeping through the games given his commentsBWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sat Jan 25, 2025 4:57 pmI mean it does depend on who it is. We’ve set the standard today for how we need to play.Prufrock wrote: ↑Sat Jan 25, 2025 4:55 pmLet's not giddy. We're a point off the play offs and there three or four really good options available now.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sat Jan 25, 2025 4:06 pmI mean why not? End of the season job. If the board think there are better targets available then.The_Gun wrote: ↑Sat Jan 25, 2025 4:03 pmHahaha, what did I say @DJBlu?
Any appointment is a risk but Jules I think would do a job and then we could reassess. I don’t think we are going anywhere this season so it’s just a calculation as to what the board want or more accurately who. If that target isn’t readily available now we might have an in house fix till May.
Delighted for him today, hope he can carry it on on Tuesday, but the sooner we get the new manager confirmed the better.
Great to see that performance and atmosphere, albeit from afar. HMS Sneak into the Playoffs has been salvaged and set back on course.

Anyone else feel that yesterday was like a reset button was pressed?
I know the players were giving 100% for Julian yesterday but he played a tactical masterclass.
The players were set, from the goal kicks, told to watch the tricky corners, bringing off Schon.
Listening to Michael Duff, he is livid they've lost, possibly because it's to an "amateur"?
However, Julian had us in the same formation Ian Evatt has used since day 0, tweaked it and played to our strengths.
Allowing the defence to see the ball in front of them instead of chasing it down following the inevitable loss of possession.
The high press of their defence forcing the error, JDC on the right winning it and setting up the goal. Simple stuff for a simple league.
We needed the extra 10% of effort yesterday and I think they did that for Julian, never in a million years would Ian Evatt got that reaction. We had a fan in that changing room yesterday, something that's been missing for a long time.
Instant reconnection with the club and fans.
He's in charge of the under 18s and on that showing I think there might be brighter days ahead at this club.
One happy Wanderer today,
Julian.

Well yes. Long overdue but a reset button absolutely pressed. I think it was regardless of yesterday but that only helped.DJBlu wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 10:32 amAnyone else feel that yesterday was like a reset button was pressed?

As the fans were signing before the game and during ‘sideways and backwards not anymore’.
The connection to the club though is huge and maybe needed just to bring some of the club feeling back. I don’t think you could have asked for better really. Everything Jules has done since taking temporary charge has been perfect.
It’s one game but I think it shows what can be done with this group and with a new man and a few changes we can really go again. Maybe that’s next season and maybe that’s frustrating we waited so long but it is what it is.

I agree mate – that's pretty much how I've felt since the Huddersfield home game.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 10:47 amIt’s one game but I think it shows what can be done with this group and with a new man and a few changes we can really go again.
I came round later than many to the idea that Evatt should go, but I never subscribed to the notion that every single player was only fit for burning. While this squad may not be perfect, there's a lot of good within it - certainly more than results and league positions have shown.
Yesterday's back three have all in turn been written off but yesterday they all played brilliantly. All are under six feet but they defended manfully. The frequently derided JDC provided an intelligent assist for Collins, who himself has been written off.
Maybe they felt they had somehting to prove; maybe Jules did a brilliant job; certainly they may have been hampered under the previous gaffer. Let's hope the next one helps our team reach its potential, and let's see what it's capable of.

Yeah mate I hold my hands up. Yesterday the players showed us what they can be about. We’ve just not seen it really for a while. I noted the moaning about the team selection beforehand but did not agree I felt it was a reasonable team for that game. Can’t carry passengers.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 12:07 pmI agree mate – that's pretty much how I've felt since the Huddersfield home game.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 10:47 amIt’s one game but I think it shows what can be done with this group and with a new man and a few changes we can really go again.

I do think there needs to be changes. When new man is here I’d like to see some more presence up front added and some pace.
What we saw yesterday was a lot of players who we know from a long time ago are good at this level hit their 7/8’s out of ten that hadn’t happened for a while. Forrester, Johnston (who has had a torrid time recently), Jones, Thomason (equally torrid time), Cogley all showed the sort of battling form they haven’t displayed much if at all this season.
Let’s see who new manager is but there are a few I think need to be moved on. Santos for one. Maybe jones if Aus is too tempting at his life stage.

Yeh there'll be in and outs - all teams are always in a state of flux. But if we can get some momentum going, let's see what happens.

Very early days of course, but has anyone's opinion/thoughts of the Dion sale changed after yesterday?

Not really. He's been good for us, but is propensity to miss some easier to score than miss, frequently, along with his dry spells have long made me think he might be at his peak. I have doubts whether he'd have enough impact for us in the Championship, so not too worried. Just hope we can find someone to complement Collins.
