Shocking decline in Mbengue's career recently. He was an excellent player at Toulouse. He was even okay for Rennes. SE have been trying to force him out all summer and he turned down a transfer to Croatia or somewhere a bit ago, even though they were going to up his wages. He was a European calibre defender at one stage. If we sign him and Parky can get him anywhere close to his old self he'd be a massive coup. Anyone with over 20 caps for Senegal is worth a shot in the Championship. He'd have had more, but he was on the verge of playing for France when he was younger.
We are linked out of the blue with loads of French players. And the club is saying no to all the previous ones. I smell an agent or agency using the clubs name to shift players on somewhere.

Entirely possible, though it's worth noting that M'Bengue and Sissako have different agents. WB vs Global 11, I think, from when I checked.

I think we've confirmed enquiries about a couple, so it could just be a case of we're making a lot of calls.

What I could see is that we call up M'Bengue's agent and ask if he fancies playing in England. He says "Yeah, we could be up for that" and then immediately puts word out to see if the interest could drum up a better offer in somewhere that isn't the arse-end of nowhere like, as Google has informed me was the case with his last offer, Dinamo Zagreb. Maybe he'd like to play for a club that hasn't been fined for racist chanting recently and whose fans don't throw bananas at their own players.

We've probably called a hundred agents this summer and asked the same question.

Do you know Ghost if Milic and Mbengue have completed pre-seasons somewhere or are coming in unfit?
They both looked decent once. Sign them both and let them battle it out. Cheikh and Chuks sounds good.

Milic hasn't. Napoli dropped him at the end of last year.

Not sure on M'Bengue. I know he hasn't featured in any of SE's pre-season games and I think they were making him train with the reserves to try and drive him out. He's likely had basic work, but I'd guess he's nowhere near match fit.

Both have had fitness issues, so if there is genuine interest there I'd guess it'll be one of the issues to deal with.

If one of these guys is near enough to go I'd prefer them to some starlet that needs to learn how to defend from scratch.
Plus we get to keep them and they don't show up in a Wigan strip the year after.
Any chance we sign both?
Taylor's contract is up next year isn't it?

Another year of rebuilding ahead.
Only 8 Players under contract next year.

GK: Alnwick
RB: Olki
DM: Lowe
CM: Murphy
AM: Ozzy
RW: Ameobi
ST: Magennis, Hall

Offer some of the others new contracts or sell them in January

We're not in a financial position to bring in two international defenders just because Taylor's deal is expiring next term. Besides, both are around 30 and they're hardly long term solutions.

Regarding contracts expiring and selling in January. Good and no. Their deals are expiring mostly because they've not earned new ones. If we sold everyone whose deal was expiring then we'd be screwed and the likelihood is they'd have no value anyway.

I could see us offering Beevers and Wheater new deals. Wheats would probably sign, but not sure about Beevers. He may have an option to trigger anyway. Hopefully Vela has an option. Does anyone know?

Yea,h I'm saying just decide before Jan who is worth keeping and offer them contracts. If they don't sign flick them and try and upgrade.
Leverage other expiring contracts. Get a stronger nucleus to push up the table so we're not stuck in the same rebuilding situation every year.

Just swung by to fail a medical or to find out how shallow Ken's pockets are.

A lot of players look around the town and leave. If you've been living in Naples and then check out Bolton you can be forgiven for thinking "No, thanks." We're not going to offer players a pay rise to overcome their uncertainty anymore, which is how it used to work.

If half your squad refuse to sign new deals then you're not going to get rid. In all honesty, we probably don't want most of them to stay - but we do want them to see out the season. Other players have signed one year deals and if they prove their fitness will likely be happy to stay. Vela and Beevers are probably the only expiring deals where the player is in the driving seat. Vela is young and an experienced player now Mark Beevers knows clubs wanted him in this window.

That's just the game day one.

There is normally a notebook and pen if there's a signing. Saying that there were 3 last week that didn't come to fruition.

I have been to Naples, yes. It's like most Med cities. A shambles in a lot of areas, but with a main district you can really enjoy and then rich suburbs. If you have money, Naples offers easy living and beauty.

Doesn't "superagent" owe us about 3 more signings according to his emoji crap? I'm fairly sure he confirmed Camp had signed at one stage.
