In the MLS?

In 2006, he was sued by a former American University college student whose leg he broke in a violent tackle during a match against D.C. United in 2003. The case was settled out of court in 2007 for undisclosed financial terms. The student's coach called Stoichkov's challenge "criminal". Ray Hudson, who coached D.C. United for whom Stoichkov played at the time, called it a "rash tackle". Following an investigation by MLS, Stoichkov was suspended two games and fined $2,000.

Seems Coyle knows where the problems are knob head liked fullbacks but bought not very good ones

Massive generalisation but Italian defenders in the Prem have all, to a man, been wank.

If we can't have sturridge, and mebbes even if we can....we should have a go for Kalou. The man scores goals when he's picked and surely must be f*cked off there.

Or Mr N. Anelka who looks like he may be dropping out of the pecking order.
They're dirty, they're filthy, they're never gonna last.

Kalou fits Coyle 'young, hungry for football criteria'. The Elk would be good to get back but he'll still want massive wages
We've been linked with him before but I think Nolan Roux would be a good purchase

There are very few Chelsea players who are rumoured to be up for grabs this summer that I wouldn't take for the right wage/price, if any at all. Anelka/Sturridge would fit the goal-poacher deluxe we need; Kalou would/should fix the left-wing dilemma. McEachran on loan to bolster the midfield, would learn a lot from Holden/Muamba/Sparky/Gardner/Davis/Pratley/Thiago (
) and if they've got any defenders going cheap, we'll have them as well.

yeah - but to put it into context, LL said that Upson and Woodgate could be the two centre-backs in a decent team...Worthy4England wrote: So LL doesn't think any of our defence are any good.

Ooh look, another left-back. Why bother with Bertrand if it would scupper any chance of re-borrowing Sturridge?
Chelsea have valued their England Under-21 defender Ryan Bertrand at £5m. However, he may be allowed to go out on loan for a season, with West Brom, Wolves, Bolton, Fulham and Nottingham Forest all interested.

I guess we're worried about cover. Robinson will get a points suspension at some time during the season, then we'd have to raise the bail for Alonso...Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Ooh look, another left-back. Why bother with Bertrand if it would scupper any chance of re-borrowing Sturridge?

I'm assuming that given we are signing Pratley (and trying for Thiago) and hoping that Sean Davis, Holden and Mark Davies remain fit, that Gardner is being kept on primarily to provide left back cover?Worthy4England wrote:I guess we're worried about cover. Re: TKIZ's impossibly brilliant all new Transfer Rumours thr
Tis a little bit worrying, i know its still only June etc etc but this close season is different in that previously it felt like we were just adding to what we had, whereas this time round we're not only needing to buy half a team just to make up numbers, but to do it with players better than the ones we've let go AND to wait for the £20m from two player sales that we need in order to buy the players (although admittedly maybe not all of that would go straight back into player investment).
Anyway, im cool , im relaxed, it's all going to be fine

I think the difference this time is that for the last three seasons we've finished 13th, 14th and 14th in other words we've been pretty static.ohjimmyjimmy wrote:Tis a little bit worrying, i know its still only June etc etc but this close season is different in that previously it felt like we were just adding to what we had, whereas this time round we're not only needing to buy half a team just to make up numbers, but to do it with players better than the ones we've let go AND to wait for the £20m from two player sales that we need in order to buy the players (although admittedly maybe not all of that would go straight back into player investment).

The hope has always been that once some players went creating space that Coyle could stamp his own identity on the squad and improve it. This is alongside one or two of our absolute shoe-in first choicers getting on a little bit.
The worry is that we've already lost/let go, Elmander, Cohen, Samuel, JOB, AOB, (for now at least) Sturrige and Rodrigo.
So we've done the trimming. But the signs suggest that we can't bring in significantly until we trim even more in the form of Cahill and Habsi.
So I'd say right its easier to make a case that we'll be weaker than we have been for the previous 3 seasons than it will be to suggest we're going to make progress.
On the flip side each and every summer we start panicking about the lack of activity but usually by the end of it things resolve themselves. I think its right to be concerned but probably a bit too early for outright panic.
