If 'Arry wants to pay £7m for Mavies then rip his hand off for it. Mavies has the potential to be a great player but unfortunately he has legs of glass
We could even get a striker in with a bit of the money

Re: Abdoulaye's going t'Souk transfer thread
Given that Davies would be a regular in our team and is one of our most saleable assets I'm not seeing the benefit for us here. Anyone?Davies may initially join Rangers for a fee on a season-long loan until they see if they can preserve their top-flight status.
Re: Abdoulaye's going t'Souk transfer thread
Nope. I mean we wouldn't let him go for free, but unless they want to give us £3m now AND another £7m next year or something else daft (come on 'Arry!) then stump up or f*ck off would be my response!

Why would we let him go on loan? That makes no senseWhookam wrote:Given that Davies would be a regular in our team and is one of our most saleable assets I'm not seeing the benefit for us here. Totally agree with the Pru

Wondered if this is what Dougie had in mind when he talked about when he said the timing wasn't quite right for the Juke's transfer to go through. Was he hoping to sell Mavies then buy the Juke?
I feel reborn !!!! No more confussion

Get his not inconsiderable wages off the books?
Remember, we're waging an unremitting war on a debt that simultaneously no-one needs to worry about because it doesn't exist. Apart from when it does.

I'm confused, does it exist or not?Lord Kangana wrote:Get his not inconsiderable wages off the books?

We don't need to worry about it in the sense that we might be into administration, Eddie Cool has it sorted.
We do need to worry in the sense we wont be spending big sums on new players anymore, Eddie Cool has had enough of putting his hand in his pocket to give us more of his cash.
Not too difficult, is it

This. Exactly this. Reducing the current wage bill is about ensuring we break even rather than make a loss that Eddie has to further cover. Doesn't change the debt situation.Prufrock wrote:We don't need to worry about it in the sense that we might be into administration, Eddie Cool has it sorted.

Its FFP
But aye, his high wages and his inability to last more than a dozen games are the only reasons we'd be right to get shut
Sto ut Serviam
Re: Abdoulaye's going t'Souk transfer thread
I don't know Eddie personally, so seems the point Caps makes about FFP would make sense too. Point is we can't spend big anymore.BWFC_Insane wrote:This. Exactly this. Re: Abdoulaye's going t'Souk transfer thread
Mavies has the potential to make our season. Thing is, he hasn't even managed half a season without injury so far. 5 million? Sounds fair to me.

Re: Abdoulaye's going t'Souk transfer thread
He's the only player we have, truly the only one, who can suddenly do something unpredictable & magical.
I know all the downsides but he's worth keeping IF we are thinking of a top 6 challenge. Still has two or three years left on that contract & he won't (proper, serious injury notwithstanding) be any less valuable come January, or this time next year.
.... & a possible LOAN ??? wtf .... one way or another 'arry.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

That article refers to Mark as "the English iniesta"
Mark is a quality player but are they having a laugh?
Reminds me more of Jack Wilshere than Iniesta.
He deserves better than QPR aswell.

Deserves better? What has he done so far apart from be injured for the majority of his time here?ChrisC wrote:That article refers to Mark as "the English iniesta"

He's got talent but hasn't shown anything significant here yet.
I will be surprised if a premiership club came in for him at this point. Have a good first half of the season, catch some headlines and it might be different....
Re: Abdoulaye's going t'Souk transfer thread
Most Bolton fans regard him as our best player. Injured or not he has shown his class and has performed in the prem with us.BWFC_Insane wrote:Deserves better? That's why Swansea bid 5 million for him and why others are showing interest.

We paid nearly that tor N'gog who was shit and had never performed in the prem...
Mavies is reasonably talented, too often part time and way too often injured.

Had the odd good game, yes. Shown that he can make a real impact at top flight or indeed this level? No.ChrisC wrote:Most Bolton fans regard him as our best player. I'd rather have Juke than Mark Davies for next season.
And I'd not pay £5m for Juke. But his impact for this club has been bigger than Davies' has yet.
Not doubting Davies' talent. But he has to show more than flashes before he can be regarded of deserving or even being good enough for top flight football, IMO.
Re: Abdoulaye's going t'Souk transfer thread
I think it's unfair to say he's shown it in flashes. That implies he's inconsistent by nature which I don't think he is. He's consistently good, but he's also injury-prone.

SSN suggesting that Everton, Hull and Celtic are interested in a deal for Modou Barrow (the young lad we've had on trial and unable to stump up 600k for)
