Sturridge just been on the box saying how he wants to go back to Chelsea, and believes he's a Chelsea player, wants to be a Chelsea player.

He said Chelsea so many times it lost all meaning.

Its good whilst it lasts though. And its his prerogative to do what he wishes. He is after all a Chelsea player.

Great day. How poor were West Ham though? It's like they've given up the ghost?!? One of the worst performances at our place in ages, certainly the first half it was just like a training game for our boys, no fighting, poor errors, they just weren't in it.

Great first goal from Sturridge - the goal of someone who just knows where the goal is, and just needs that half second of time and a little bit of space to try and find it.

Really hope Mark Davies is fit for next week, because whilst Mandy handled himself adequately in that role today, it was against a really poor side and I wouldn't fancy the same two next week against a robust Stoke.

But feck it, amazing do. Could have been 8. Easily.

If he wants to play for Chelsea he may need to get rid of that pass-only-when-there-is-absolutely-no-other-option mentality. It's not such a problem here but can't imagine it going down well with players like Drogba, Anelka, Torres etc.

Then again, as long as he keeps scoring...

Yeah, I don't think it tells us much about next week, as we'll be facing a much better side. Still better preparation than the mess that was the Howey/Otsemabor City game pre-Carling Cup.

That said, Petrov appears to have found some form from somewhere, and our makeshift midfield of that workshy, soft as shit centre forward and the worst midfielder ever to lace up a pair of boots controlled the midfield against the much hyped Parker/Noble/Hitzlesperger.

Sturridge should've finally ended the 9 year wait for a Wanderers hat-trick, but he was still pretty good.

That is the reason he isn't at Chelsea now, too much messing about and not enough content. Its ok to do that in our team, but like you say if you've got Drogba screaming for the ball instead of Davies its a different story.

Not taking anything away from him though, he's a different class of player and Chelsea must be kicking themselves a little bit.

Its amazing how different a bit of sun can make you feel, it just felt like a game winning day!

Took the dog out straight after the stream finished, but bounced along with a big grin. Yes, they were poor first half and better in the second, but it's the second type we want. They didn't even look like a prem team first half but even when thay were playing much better we still scored and held them. Ba is a decent/dangerous striker, but he and Carson apart they hadn't much to offer. Three great points and a big boost for next week, oh for Sturridge then. Our lads defended like the 300 and Jussi made a totally class save. Chung Yong is on the way to being a complete player; attacks well, gets in scoring positions and his tracking back and defending are really a revelation. Petrov gets better by the game. KD was KD and Elmo worked like a trojan. All very satisfactory.

Whites played like a team that have it together, albeit without our mifield stalwarts available. Muamba was great in his constant harrying and when somebody tells young Alonso we're the ones in white on throw-ins he'll come good. Rodreigo looked sharp and up for it and he's full of promise to come. All in all (particularly since it was West Ham) a very enjoyable day. :oyea:

No knees up at Mother Brown's tonight then. KUMB is in meltdown. Mind you half time showed optimism, or was it irony? :
Don't panic. Avram Grant's inspirational half time talk hasn't kicked in yet. We are just lulling Bolton into a false sense of security before we pounce.

Only read a few pages but very very disappointing. It's almost like they have resigned themselves to admitting we are a better side. Totally unacceptable, I want the vicious bile directed at ourselves, the players, and of course SKD. Almost took the whole glow off the victory listening to that defeatist drivel.

Indeed. Someone had the temerity to suggest we play football.

No-one challenged this.

Some even agreed.

Martin Samuel's cold sweat has lost him 6 stone already.

Yes, I thought that. A lot of bile gainst Grant ... and Upson, very little at us. We are, quite simply, light years ahead of them, they accept it and ... well .... nothing really.

It's not the same. Not the same at all !!

just got back from the game, top class performance! first half was a pleasure to watch and, although west ham were pretty much awful, we worked very well with the petrov/alonso combo looking an absolute treat, elmander and muamba bossing the midfield and lee...being lee (awesome!)..second half i think we did very well to get the third goal before slowing the tempo down, avoiding any injuries and allowing sturridge free role to try and get his hat-trick! If cahill is to leave in the summer i'd love us to use the money in buying a young replacement (therefore promoting wheater permantly to first time for the short term), and tying down sturridge (and rodrigo if possible..although this isnt football manager..).

imho no matter how much sturridge may be enjoying being at bolton he believes he is a chelsea player and maybe prepared to sit on their bench behind their current front 3..however if chelsea do go on to buy neymar maybe that will give his head a good shake and he'll decide to join the reebok, althought im sure many other "bigger" teams will also be thinking the same. if we cant get sturridge permantly then at least coyle has seen how much we need a striker with abit of pace and skill about him and il always be thankful for sturridge's time here and hope he goes on to being a regular england centre forward.

with the team we have at the moment and the youth that seems to be coming through the reserves (eaves, ward, connolly etc.) i really think owen is the man to anchor us as a 'top 10' club and enjoy a few glorious cup/euro runs in the future! coyw!

Bottle that. It might just be the first recorded instance of a semi-funny comment from a Whammer. And that includes James Fatty Corden

It's been quite a few years since I've seen a worse team than Wetspam today, totally feckless, but you can only beat what's put in front of you.

Sturridge was like a man possessed going for the hat-trick.

Happy days.
... of course I may just be talking bo11ocks

Pretty good performance today. Still a bit scary defending. Spam were as bad as I've seen in a long while and could have been 12-2 at Half time.

Great performances generally, but why oh why do we let Alonso do anything other than punt the ball into touch?
