It's hard to defend Mackay but I do think he's a good manager and if he was able to convince the players that he isn't a bigot, then I'd happily have him as a manager. I'm not personally bothered by the comments and my only concern is whether the players, especially the non-white British ones, would want him in charge because the last thing we need are more divisive characters at Bolton. It could turn out to be a disaster if the players didn't like him but if they did, he'd be on of the best candidates for the job.

I'm not actively against him taking over, I just think it's a risk. If the players did like him then there aren't many, if any, better options out there. I don't know if I'd take that risk instead of someone like McDermott but I'd certainly take the risk if the choice was Mackay or proven failures like Mowbray and Brown.

Nice chap as well.
How much of his knowledge is relevant to the level we are at?

What we need now is someone who's been there and done it as a manager IMO.
Who would you like then?

I cannot see us being able to get a top been there and done it manager.

I don't understand your point about knowledge, he has been involved in football for quite a long time and done very well out of it. So clearly he has knowledge of football.

If you had said I don't want someone who has never been a manager, I could understand but you didn't.

I'm glad we have apparent interest, as I think this might be quite a disappointing process.
That is what I said. We need someone who has been there and done it as a manager and Phelan hasn't. He has spent the vast majority of his caching career at the top level with Manchester United, a relegation scrap in the second tier is an altogether different beast. Again, that is only my opinion.

Bet she could get 'em if she wanted...and quick!

(Apparently, she was at The Retreat the other night, one of us should have stopped by and complimented her shoulder pads...

don't see why that one has .

alex sabella is a currently unemployed argentine football manager.

carlos bianchi is a argentine football manager , if you wanna spoil it click this Theres enough sky atlantic viewers on here , i've seen 'em.

alex sabella is a currently unemployed argentine football manager.

we want pele was a bolton fanzine / bolton evening newspaper headline / whatever .

i previously made jose mourinho / pep guardiolia 4 bolton references because when megson / coyle went , by co-incidence, jose and pep were unemployed. i assume the fanzines editors were making a similar joke when naming their magazine.

midldebrook mcdonalds is a dietmar hamman / dicks on facebook or wherever 'trope' . similar to "i've got the rivaldo fax in my pocket" or "my mates sisters boyfriend said .."

its not next level super-comedy like "turkish harry kewell" or 3D videos cartoons of megson and gartside talking about ripping off bolton fans. those appeal to millionstwos of people all over the world.

i thought freedman'd be OK, we've not got a game for ages , if i cant laugh at it all in the meantime, then what ? i could go all "gartside out" , but nah , i'm not that arsed with that scene.

-----------------------------------------

if were going for racialists i'd rather have paulo dicanio , coz then we can swap him for allardyce after 4 months.

steve clarke might be ok. but scottish, so i dunno how that plays. i'm more likely to believe my own made up tips than some of the real ones with a book open on 'em... think theres one on coyle.

Firstly, we need a man manager who can get the players to believe in themselves again. Secondly, we need a guy who knows how to make a team hard to beat and hard to break down.

My fear is that fans dont want the football that will go with that while we escape the relegation zone and push on. Pulis is ideal for that type of job, although I don't think we can afford him. Mcdermot and Clarke don't have those credentials, neither does Phelan.

If Jimmy Phillips was in with a chance, he would be in charge now. For some reason, the club haven't gone down that route. My own feeling is that the successor has been selected some weeks ago and the club didn't want to risk a short winning streak under JP, only to then replace him.

I don't think people should worry about seeming less intelligent if they can't (/claim not to be able to) understand what a1 is saying. I certainly don't think that of them

I don't think people should be overly worried or stressed at all by a1. If you don't understand it - move on - nobody will die! We get that some posters don't understand - no need to to tell us every single time he posts! He's fairly harmless...

I notice Nixon has been busy on Twitter. As ever, if reading rumours that may or may not be true causes you undue agitation, feel free to skip this post.

He reckons plenty of names have applied, of which we will look to speak to four. All of them are available. Suggests that some of the interested parties may become less interested when they become fully aware of our situation.

Hughton and Mackay are two of the four. The other two aren't...

Tony Pulis
Phil Brown
Jimmy Phillips
Billy Davies
Keith Hill
Tony Mowbray
Brian McDermott

He also says Neil Lennon wants it, so I presume he's also in the four.

If true, and the likes of Mackay, Hughton and Lennon are interested, why the feck did we carry on with Freedman for so long?
