Re: The "Nothing to see here"Transfer thread
I'd rather sign Dawson than Rhodes. Especially for half the price.
Thing is Freedman said a fortnight or so ago that we need to score more goals. I'd argue we need to concede fewer. But if the man who signs the cheques only wants to buy strikers, then I'd settle for winning 5-4 rather than 1-0...

Eddie will only put money into young players he knows he will get a return on. Forwards bring big money, so Its Rhodes or nobody.

Doubt Eddie wants to spend anymore significant money on anyone. Suspect Rhodes was only of we could get him for a bargain. Eddie clearly wants to run things more cheaply now. Cant blame him. We've been stuck with expensive flops like Mills and Ream and Mears and he probably doesn't want more risks given the league we are in. Or he could be paying a huge bill for years.throwawayboltonian wrote:I get what you're saying, but surely Eddie can see that we need to bolster our defence ahead of our strikers. I really want to see us sign a goalscorer, but defence has to take priority with our record.boltonboris wrote:That's not what the money is there for mate. Sort of. Shit analogy, I know.

Wasn't that where we were up to withcoyle though? Its probably easier to send out a team to win 1-0 more often than one set up to win 5-4.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:I'd rather sign Dawson than Rhodes. Especially for half the price.

As it is, I'm not sure we're going to be signing any of those names.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

He'd bring down the amount we concede but don't forget, he also had the second highest goal to game ratio in the squad last season (second to eagles).Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:I'd rather sign Dawson than Rhodes. Especially for half the price.

Dawson seems like a no brainer, especially if eddie is concerned about getting his money back, would expect him to be worth an 8 figure some in the future.
Re: The "Nothing to see here"Transfer thread
I know, fella but that's just what I'd do. I think because we all saw us shipping goals last season that the main priority would be defence and that man, Dawson. If we didn't get Spearing I wouldn't be so unhappy think Medo/Holden/Pratters will do a great jobBWFC_Insane wrote:Doubt Eddie wants to spend anymore significant money on anyone. Just a shame that we now have to sell before we can buy and because players are used to higher wages that Coyle dished out we've been 'lumbered' with players who don't quite fit the Dougie blueprint or are just a bit pish
Pfffft.
Re: The "Nothing to see here"Transfer thread
Nixon says Moritz was willing to sign for a year on low wages but deal hasn't been done. He says a verbal agreement was made before Moritz come in for medical etc. So why has the deal not happened?
Dougie must have something in mind like going in for Spearing. Blackburn have been given permission to talk to Spearing so maybe we are now making a move?
Hope so anyway!

I don't think you are reading between the lines. What Nixon is suggesting is that Dougie wants Moritz had an agreement but had been blocked from a deal as there is no money available.ChrisC wrote:Nixon says Moritz was willing to sign for a year on low wages but deal hasn't been done. N'Gog has a good touch, is quick, makes it stick...sometimes. Despite all that, he's a f*cking coward.
Prufrock; you're a knob.
I would feckin' love to see you and N'Gog have a fight outside a chippy on a friday night................If ever you want to call a man a coward, harden the f*ck up and tell him to his face.
Just sayin' like..........

Not having that. Dougie knows his budget and wouldn't waste Moritz or his own time if the money wasn't there for the wages.

Ha! Firstly, he lives in Adlington, and he's not yet been in the Little Chippy, nor has he wandered in the Elephant, so ner! He can't beat me up outside the chippy, coz he doesn't go, and he's scared that Geoff'll batter him if he beats him at dominoes.Il Pirate wrote:N'Gog has a good touch, is quick, makes it stick...sometimes. Secondly, if you beat up a pasty white boy are you by rights not a coward?
Honestly, maybe it's the wrong word, but he's a £4m supposed main man who looks at the bench and starts staying down when we're losing. It's not a physicality thing, it's a mental thing, and he's a loser.

Also, Boggers, Ali, Jussi.... only one of them is still a premier league keeper. Past it...

I don't think anyone has questioned his ability on here though, have they? His wages yes, ability, not really sure there's a groundswell against anything else.

Re: The "Nothing to see here"Transfer thread
Well I got right feckin confused last night. Trying to read the paper and kept on being interrupted by a very very persistant talker, when I realised that the article I was reading was telling me that Yeovil had bought N'gog. Ngog's gone, me doing a double take, but thinking Yeovil! Yeovil! really. And then starting to reread the article thinking why do they keep mentioning Liverpool.
Then it dawned, there's a striker called N'goo (who I've never heard of) and N'gog's still here. Oh well it at least fits the theme of nothing to see here.

Maybe eddie is struggling to remember those seasons in the premiership where we didn't run at a loss...BWFC_Insane wrote:
I reckon Eddie Davies is looking at this and saying 'we can't keep spending money without getting it back'. Which is fair enough apart from the fact that we need to go back up to have any chance of getting close to balancing the books to stop running at a loss.

Regarding Matt Mills to Leeds...
Another swipe by Dougie at Kevin Davies. Ouch! Time for the handbags soon.“I only want people at this football club who show the right attitude to being here – not someone who thinks we owe him a favour for what he has done in the past, or last year. Matt has shown the right attitude and is someone I’d like to work with.”

Maybe he is, but the dynamic is considerably different these days. Get to Prem, get rich quick, fail to get to Prem, remain poor for rest of eternity. (possible hyperbole exaggeration employed, but wtf).thebish wrote:Maybe eddie is struggling to remember those seasons in the premiership where we didn't run at a loss...BWFC_Insane wrote:

That Dawson is really shit. He scored an own goal for West Brom last night which lost them to game. I think they should loan him back to us for next season or even better, sell him to us
