I can see the "Major Signing" bit as being Bolton News bullshit, but wouldnt be surprised in it happening especially after DF stated last week that he had 2 signings lined up by the end of the month no matter what division we would be in next year.BWFC_Insane wrote:I call bullshit......wigan white wrote:According to the BN, 2 major signings will arrive at the Bok, in the next 24hrs, they reckon its a striker and defender both with vast Championship experience

Wanderers have also commenced a restructure of the backroom staff, which it is understood will include the departures of club doctor Jonathan Tobin, strength and conditioning coach Mike Rawson and fitness coach Jimmy Barrow.
Dr Tobin was brought to the Reebok in 2008 by Gary Megson and has remained a familiar face at Euxton under the last three managers. He is best known, however, for his crucial role in helping to resuscitate Fabrice Muamba after his collapse at White Hart Lane just over 12 months ago. It is thought that the club will operate with a part-time doctor from next season.
Rawson was promoted to the conditioning coach after the departure of Adie Stovell in December 2010, after moving to the club from University. Barrow – who has also worked as a kit man at the club – was brought into the fitness and medical team by Owen Coyle in 2010.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

I'll be surprised if we bring in two first team signings so soon. Anyone half decent must surely still be assessing their options?wigan white wrote:I can see the "Major Signing" bit as being Bolton News bullshit, but wouldnt be surprised in it happening especially after DF stated last week that he had 2 signings lined up by the end of the month no matter what division we would be in next year.BWFC_Insane wrote:I call bullshit......wigan white wrote:According to the BN, 2 major signings will arrive at the Bok, in the next 24hrs, they reckon its a striker and defender both with vast Championship experience

Good god.
The full extent of the mess he left is becoming more and more apparent.
Presumably Dougie wants to bring in, I don't know, some actual fitness and conditioning experts........

Seriously, wouldn't bet against Ebanks-Blake being one of them. And I am hoping the defender will be Williams from 'boro (but can't see it happening though).

The article mentions Rawson went to uni, but nothing about barrow's qualifications. I remember reading the page on the official website with the pen profiles of the backroom staff under Coyle and thinking that all of them needed replacing, with potential exception of Tobin.Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:Or, he was a kit man and decided to better himself by going to Uni. Re: The "Nothing to see here"Transfer thread
Still some details up at http://www.bwfc.co.uk/team/staff-profil ... index.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
It also still lists Dave Dean, the club masseuse who worked in a bank for 17 years...
Dr Jonathan Tobin: Club Doctor
Dr Jonathan Tobin is Bolton Wanderers’ club doctor and joined us after working for Preston North End. Despite working as club doctor for clubs in the North-West, Tobin only moved to the area in 2004 and ended up on the Deepdale staff after sitting next to the then Preston North End club doctor at a dinner.
He became assistant club doctor to the Lilywhites and was promoted to the top job when his predecessor retired soon after. Before taking up his position at the Reebok Jonathan had worked as a GP in Penwortham and part time at Deepdale. He worked at PNE one morning each week as well as attending home matches.
The step up from part-time to full-time is something that Tobin has relished as it allows him to keep closer tabs on any injuries that happen at the club. Like all members of the medical staff, Tobin’s role also involves looking after the fit and healthy players- to make sure they stay that way. He is also on hand to liaise with consultants and to oversee medicals when a player is being signed as well as each player’s annual medical review.
And there's one for Jimmy Barrow (Fitness Coach), although without details.Mike Rawson: Strength And Conditioning Coach
Mike is responsible for putting the players through their paces and can often be seen on pitches around the league helping the squad through both their warm-up and cool-down routines. He graduated from the University of Leeds with a degree in Sports Science and on completing his studies wrote to every single Football League club to see if he could observe the methods of fitness coaches up and down the country.
He was given a chance to shadow Mark Hulse who was working as our fitness coach at the time and that observatory role soon turned into a full-time internship. He went on to fill the role of assistant fitness coach, working under Ade Stovell, mainly with the development squad until December 2010, when he was promoted to the first team as strength and conditioning coach following Stovell’s departure from the club. His duties include monitoring the injuries at the club as well as giving every player fitness tests before they return to training at the start of each season.
Once the season is in full swing, Rawson conducts the warm ups and focusses specifically on improving players’ speed, agility and strength. He also provides players and coaches with heart rate analysis, body fat testing and hydration testing, making sure that everyone remains in peak physical condition.

Re: The "Nothing to see here"Transfer thread
It is more that the Insane one looks at everything said or written in minute detail to prove that Coyle is shit/a wanker/useless (delete as applicable). It is unnecessary and almost as tedious as BL3 banging on about how Dougie is not Mick Mac or whoever won last week.midlands exile wrote: The article mentions Rawson went to uni, but nothing about barrow's qualifications. Re: The "Nothing to see here"Transfer thread
Our backroom staff could be a sitcom... promoting the kitman to fitness coach, giving the strength and conditioning role to the work experience lad, and there's nothing wrong with working in a bank but he was basically a mature student on work experience when we hired him. It's like we were saving money by not advertising jobs in the usual manner.
The players you fail to sign never lose you any money.
