I'm listening to the radio interview and have to say he's up there with the best PR for a long time.

Indeed. How many people asked about our youngsters? Did I miss us buying the Barcelona Academy somewhere along the line?

Surely the main criteria for first team selection is being in the top eleven or so players, rather than being ten?

Like what he said about bringing youth through, getting them training and travelling with first team. He namechecked vela and wilkinson. Has to back it up - which his predecessor didn't.

Great interview really. An hours interview - fair play.

I don't agree. He should only play them if they're good enough. I've not seen enough of any of them to have an opinion one way or t'other. If they're not good enough and don't look like becoming good enough, he should think about getting shut.

He said he'd be reliant on older heads and I think that it was unlikely from what he said, he'd be throwing the yoof into the fray, without seeing a bit more of them.

We're not disagreeing. I want to see this supposed world class academy supply some first team footballers. If it isn't i want to see some changes to it. If they are not good enough - get rid! We cant afford to buy our way out of this one.

Though i do think vela, kellet at least could be in the squad. I certainly think vela is better than a few of those who have played already this season. We shall see.

Vela IS better than some we've seen. Than some we've actually brought in in the past 3 months. The biggest issue is that he'd make the twins' into 'the triplets' as he'll offer what we get from Spearing and ask of Medo .... when we do ..
ask him, that is.

Vela would probably give Garvan a decent go (having seen about the same amount of both of them), but then I've viewed Garvan as not being worth a shirt, so far.

You might put them in the squad, but if you're only going to warm the bench with them, sure, give them that experience, but they might be better out on loan.
