Read this including comments at the end too. Disgraceful state of affairs affairs. Directors and ED not fit for purpose .

I don't usually read comments, but I followed your advice and on this occasion was glad I did. The third comment appears to be from the (anonymous) original writer and includes the phrase "I have no inside knowledge of the club".bwfcnottingham wrote:Read this including comments at the end too. Murky as shite, our finances. That's not unusual. In a way I applaud The Offshore Game for wanting to introduce clarity – and presumably fair taxation, although that's hardly likely when the prime minister's family fortune was made in offshore and the chancellor's family business is also happy to make millions in deals with tax-haven companies.
Let's be honest: the very rich frequently don't like paying tax. If we want the very rich running our clubs – enabling the finest players in the world to come to our country – then it might get a bit smoky. Is it right? No, it's not. I don't like it, but I think I'm powerless to stop it and I'm glad I got to see Ruud Gullit at Burnden, not to mention our very own Galacticos less than a decade later.

Re: The Debt.
Hmm but by default ED tax affairs have become ours as he has used BWFC for his benefit , not the club's.
He has well and truly messed the club up
. If you read the Web site further and look at the league table they published we are 2nd to Manchester city in dodgy offshore financing

except that the article doesn't really say very much of any real substance about what exactly it means by ED's "dodgy" offshore financing or how on eartn you wouold create such a league table in any meaningful way...

Re: The Debt.
This really is getting a bit silly.
Hands up all those who can foresee a few problems with this plan "to buy a bit of land to add into a larger deal to sell the land on"?
Hmmmmmmmmm. How much did you say you were prepared to pay for this 'bit of land' (and how fast do you need this done by)?...

Re: The Debt.
This is the article that prompted the discussion on mixed metaphors on the "Breaking News" thread. But, I'll give the author credit for consistency: at various points, he has Moonsh!t "showering the club with cash", before deciding to "turn off the taps" and ultimately "pulling the plug." Pass the towel please.Worthy4England wrote:Poor article IMO. ^^ Some good analogies there ... be dey accurate or not.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Re: The Debt.
bbc story:
Neil Lennon: Bolton manager and coaches help pay club staff
Bolton Wanderers' coaches are using their own money to help pay administrative staff at the financially troubled club, says boss Neil Lennon.
Around 300 staff based at Bolton's Macron Stadium and their two training grounds have not been paid this month.
"I've got staff who are struggling to make ends meet," said 44-year-old former Celtic manager Lennon.
"That's not a great scenario so some of us are having a whip round for a few of them just to keep them on board."
On Monday, Bolton were given until 22 February to resolve issues that led to Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs bringing a winding-up petition.
The Trotters, who are £172.9m in debt and owe HMRC £2.2m, did not pay their players on time in November but this is the first time other staff have not been paid.
Financial advisor Trevor Birch is currently trying to negotiate the sale of the club from owner Eddie Davies.

Great touch. Nice if the players pitched in with a performance tomorrow now too. Everyone is in this together.

Re: The Debt.
We really need this takeover to happen or be announced next week, the club, fans, town etc needs some positive news asap
I think some positive takeover news may possibly even galvanise the fans to get behind the team for the rest of the season, if we win tomorrow we have a 50 / 50 chance of staying up, but if not we are down without a doubt.

I've been saying that for weeks, but luckily, everytime we get dicked, the teams around us do too!Peter Thompson wrote:We really need this takeover to happen or be announced next week, the club, fans, town etc needs some positive news asap

HUGE game for us on Saturday, but I'm never confident anymore

Re: The Debt.
I admire your optimism but I don't see how we can possibly stay up. We've 9 days left to the end of the transfer window, so whatever happens re a potential take over, we're stuck with these players less anyone we manage to sell. We haven't got the players to score the goals that could keep us up, and we're stuck with a manager who can't seem to get the best of what he's working with.

Re: The Debt.
There's the loan transfer window so any new owner could take advantage of that. We need new owners first, then new manager then a couple of attacking loans. And for all of those to be s success. It's asking a lot. We can stay up but it really is a long shot.Harry Genshaw wrote:I admire your optimism but I don't see how we can possibly stay up. Re: The Debt.
Good point re loans (and the procession of ducks we need ordered aforehand). Borrowing players would be very sensible, given we don't know what division we will be in next season, and possibly what manager will be in charge.LeverEnd wrote:There's the loan transfer window so any new owner could take advantage of that. Seems to me we are in this mess largely because successive managers have (with directorial approval) spent too much, even while many of them were professing to cut back. Loanees are less risky, and although they're far from guaranteed to work, we could really do with a Dawson or a Juke or an ALF or a Sturridge or a Wilshere or a Colin Hendry or a David Lee or an Andy Walker...
