Whoa there Mr BeReet... Thou hast mixed up panic fannies and serial moaners - we may overlap in the Venn diagram of Boltonian Sufferation, but only marginally.thebish wrote:Gary the Enfield wrote:Panic ye not fannies! Staff are to be paid.

Re: The Debt.
Would we still be in the market for loans from the Prem though? I thought the loan market was so buoyant these days even those deals can cost a packet. Dawson came to us because we offered more than other championship teams at the timeDave Sutton's barnet wrote:Good point re loans (and the procession of ducks we need ordered aforehand). Borrowing players would be very sensible, given we don't know what division we will be in next season, and possibly what manager will be in charge.LeverEnd wrote:There's the loan transfer window so any new owner could take advantage of that. We need new owners first, then new manager then a couple of attacking loans. And for all of those to be s success. It's asking a lot. We can stay up but it really is a long shot.Harry Genshaw wrote:I admire your optimism but I don't see how we can possibly stay up. We've 9 days left to the end of the transfer window, so whatever happens re a potential take over, we're stuck with these players less anyone we manage to sell. We haven't got the players to score the goals that could keep us up, and we're stuck with a manager who can't seem to get the best of what he's working with.
Seems to me we are in this mess largely because successive managers have (with directorial approval) spent too much, even while many of them were professing to cut back. Loanees are less risky, and although they're far from guaranteed to work, we could really do with a Dawson or a Juke or an ALF or a Sturridge or a Wilshere or a Colin Hendry or a David Lee or an Andy Walker...

'Ang on 'Arry, we're already the other side of at least three big IFs and you're asking how much we can spend. Re: The Debt.
Does FFP affect our ability to loan players? Or does someone buying the club - and all that then ensues - mean the embargo will be lifted?

Yes. Provisionally. Conditions have to be met, what they are is way beyond my pay grade to delve into.TonyDomingos wrote:Does FFP affect our ability to loan players? Or does someone buying the club - and all that then ensues - mean the embargo will be lifted?

if only HMRC were as generous with us as they have just been with Google - (basically) allowing them to pay a very small nominal amount of back-tax to cover a MASSIVE unpaid bill...

Helluva week we've had.
An extension on the winding up order, sorting out the selling of the car park and two wins to boot. I'm happy with that.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Legally Google did not owe a penny in tax.thebish wrote:if only HMRC were as generous with us as they have just been with Google - (basically) allowing them to pay a very small nominal amount of back-tax to cover a MASSIVE unpaid bill...
Morally - judge for yourselves
Re: The Debt.
How on earth can morality play a part in tax law?! They owe what they owe. Anyone who buys it when politicians get all "outraged" when companies pay no tax is falling for a pretty simple bait-and-switch from the f*ckers who are in charge of writing those tax laws.
