Fair enough fella, the thing is with the internet you get no inclining of the tone of the posts, what may have seemed like an off hand comment by BWFC Dan may have had more read into it by yourself.Danny_York_City wrote:Ok, that's fair enough. I honestly wasn't sure if you would be bothered (I did ask about four pages ago), and only kept posting as some said they were, but clearly most of you don't, so I'll leave itTKIZ! wrote:we don't really care how many you'e sold, it has no impact on us.
Should be a fun day. All the best
I'm honestly chuffed for you that you are bringing that many but like I said it has no impact on us because if we have loads in that day it's expected, if we don't it's 'lets take the pi$$ of out of Bolton for not filling their ground against York'

Re: Bolton vs York City
Well we sold out our Carling Cup Final allocation, and there was a big kerfuffle about lots of people not being able to get tickets, so we'll say we could have sold 70k. Aren't we ace?! Beat that tin pot team man
. If only we weren't held back by our tiny tin pot ground.

Aye- I remember getting one of the remaining thousand tickets, turning up expecting a roaring crowd, only to be greeted by this...!thebish wrote:ahh - but 69,000 of those were for Batman and his aliases....Prufrock wrote:Well we sold out our Carling Cup Final allocation, and there was a big kerfuffle about lots of people not being able to get tickets, so we'll say we could have sold 70k. Re: Bolton vs York City
Not sure why people are still entertaining this debate.
But in the spirit of the thing.
Bolton's average attendance in the 4th Division in our one season in 1988 was 5,018 - that's higher than York have managed every year since then - including their recentish 3rd Division "glory years" in the mid to late 1990's - when they were still generally below the 4,000 mark.
Our lowest average since 1947 was 4,847 in 1986 - which York have managed to eclipse since 1989, well, never.
Thank fcuk the place has a racecourse, I'd rather watch my pub team.

Re: Bolton vs York City
I've said it before and I'll say it again:
"It's a game of football cocker, not a competition to see how many people a club can fit in the stadium. If it was neither of us would win, and the same team would be top every year."
He seems to have a bit of a chip on his shoulder this chap because Premiership football is all 'foreigners falling over'.
Making threats: 'There is something amusing about a £2m benchwarmer from somewhere overseas running for his life with a flare on his head' (Don't want to say the R word).
And dismissing our away support.
Hope we smash 'em back into Yorkshire now.

I suspect this conclusively puts it to bed - as Worthy's magnificent statistical analysis often does - and that Danny_York_City has hung her head in shame and gone to wax her armpits...Worthy4England wrote:Not sure why people are still entertaining this debate.

Since we were last in the 4th Division, they've averaged 3,160 attendance across a number of divisions. So roughly 40% of their support in the Cup match, will be made up of glory hunting cock-watchers.thebish wrote:I suspect this conclusively puts it to bed - as Worthy's magnificent statistical analysis often does - and that Danny_York_City has hung her head in shame and gone to wax her armpits...Worthy4England wrote:Not sure why people are still entertaining this debate.

I just wish I could find their stats for 1988 when we were in the 4th and they were a big team in the 3rd. I'd be very surprised if they beat us that year too.

Hey, 6th place (we'll be taking it back from Sunderland shortly) is pretty glorious, isn't it?

You started it.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.
