3 things in the People from Nixon.

1) Dougie had persuaded Moritz to join on a cheap one year deal but the Bolton 'money men' blocked it.

2) Craig Dawson has said he wants to stay at West Brom and isn't coming here (never would have guessed!)

3) Blackburn want Craig Davies

Do you think we will get anywhere near a £1 million? I would have thought less than half that amount.
Do not trust atoms. They make up everything.

So the big reveal was what we already know? All I can say is sad bastards that spend all their time following and drooling over his every word

I don't think he promised any big reveal. He said there are a few snippets of news.

We did not know Blackburn wanted Craig Davies.

We paid a release clause, in this league he's worth that surely?

Thanks for that link TKIZ. Equally revelatory that Tulisa (?) has spilled out of her bikini while partying in the sea.

If Leeds can't afford his wages then I'm pretty sure Blackpool can't

There is also an interview with Freedman in the People where he is asking the board to 'back him in the market'. Says the squad isn't strong enough, that we haven't replaced Spearing and Dawson and that we don't have adequate cover to compete for promotion as it stands.

Dougie is clearly not happy with what is happening right now. All sounding a bit if a shambles to be honest.

It'll be reet. Doug'll just sign another couple of strikers. That'll solve all our problems.

Hopefully that doesn't mean he'll be off to a bigger/other team if they come knocking. I like what he's trying to do with us.
Sounds like he's just a bit fed up. Bringing in Mortiz and it being blocked seems to have kicked this off.

Reading between the lines he expected to have more to spend. Perhaps he expected to sell more players easily. I take his point that whilst we have a very good group of players there are key gaps and areas where one injury leaves us in trouble.

Seems as though it all comes down to Eddie Davies and what he wants to spend.

In this case Eddie really does have to speculate to accumulate. Dougie needs backing with at least the purchase of a CB and Spearing. Let's hope this is not the beginning of the end for Dougie's reign

I suppose it all comes down to how worried the club are about not getting promoted. Am I right in thinking the parachute payments stop next year? If so, its shit or bust this season.

I don't think behind the scenes there is to much fallout. I will just be a case of we have to move people out to make room with the FFP coming in. There is no way that Dougie didn't know his budget before the window opened and that he had to move some players out.

Lets not forget that Nixon is best buds with Coyle and reports on BWFC have become more negative ever since Coyle joined the pies. Some mischief going on IMO.

This is the sad truth. If we go up its not like Eddie isn't going to be asked to dip into his pockets again is it?

Catch 22 in that his best chance of getting some of his investment back is as a premiership club, but achieving that means he has to invest more.

... &, trying to be big about this, if we have to live out of our means to succeed is that right and proper ?

I know everyone else does it and I know I want us to achieve, but we had 11 years at the top level and only actually succeeded in adding to our debts.

... and I'm not sure where the FFP rules come into play and how.

I doubt Eddie has suddenly woken up to all this and I'm sure he sees that £5m spent on Dawson and Spearing are not bad investments. But I'd agree with the view that we have to shed some of the extremely ordinary stuff we have as well ... maybe before any more is spent.

Totally agree BWFCi/Bobo, however with the money sloshing (incredibly at the end of this season the team in last place will be awarded same amount as the team who finished 13th this season) Eddie could take a larger 'payment' back if we do go up.

But who is to say we would go up even if he provided more money for the likes of Spearing?(Dawson ain't coming back money or no money). Eddie may just not want to gamble more on an unknown. He might want to wait till Christmas and see where we are.
