He was pretty sketchy about it at the fans forum. It sounded like "I think there might be an agreement" rather than a definitive statement. He started out by saying "I've heard there is something like that".

But I presume Iles information comes from Freedman. Perhaps the possibility was checked out and Chelsea are saying no. If it wasn't written down in contract form at the time then it is pretty irrelevant either way.

Well it could be written down as a contract. But as you say Chelsea would always reserve the right to say "no" to any particular player.

Sunderland are pushing Danny Graham towards the exit.

The striker, 28, is having to play for the Black Cats' under-21 side as boss Gus Poyet tries to find a buyer for him.

Former club Middlesbrough and Championship rivals Leeds both want to take Graham on loan, but with Sunderland picking up a big chunk of his £30,000-a-week wages.

Graham scored six times in 18 appearances on loan at Boro in the second half of last season, after an earlier unsuccessful spell at Hull.

Poyet, however, wants a permanent deal and hopes to find a home for the former Watford and Swansea hitman, who is not in his plans despite his own lack of summer signings.
