Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread
I remember him at Ipswich last season. Played mostly DM for them iirc. Struggling to see why we need another player like this, but Parky knows best, I hope. Am still wondering how we survive February financially.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Thu Jan 31, 2019 2:44 pmIles' antennae are twitching:
"...after making a few calls, I'm feeling a bit more optimistic something will get done today. No idea what he's like as a goal-scorer but I understand [Everton's] Callum Connolly is close to severing his loan deal with Wigan Athletic - and looks likely to sign for Wanderers. There hasn't been much indication from the Wanderers camp, in truth, but sources elsewhere suggest the move is very much on."
He's a defender/midfielder. 21, 6ft1in, England U21 caps.

That seems to be the general consensus, aye. Ipswich fans seem to like him, Wigan fans less so, but if we're to set our watches by Wigan fans we're in a worse state than I thought.bristol_Wanderer3 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 31, 2019 3:31 pmI remember him at Ipswich last season. I wonder what sort of money KA is asking for Connell ?

Staff and players still unpaid - as of a few minutes ago according to Iles' live blog.

More than folk will pay. Same with the club, Ameobi and just about everything except Madine, for whom we found someone willing to make the actuarial decision that overpaying might be worth it.

Well i'd already sorta thought it through that our Ken might be asking telephone numbers for him.....Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Thu Jan 31, 2019 4:09 pmMore than folk will pay. Some positive news for Wanderers. Hearing that majority of non-playing staff have been paid.
Majority. Not all. And what about the players?

Normally, sensibly, it'd be tied to achievements (appearances, cups, caps, etc).nelson66 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 31, 2019 4:26 pmWell i'd already sorta thought it through that our Ken might be asking telephone numbers for him.....Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Thu Jan 31, 2019 4:09 pmMore than folk will pay. But we need cash now, so we might settle for less overall to get more up front. And that might not be what Brighton, Southampton, Spurs or whoever want to do.

Terrible, but would prob pay salaries till April, when it would be too late to not get through the season. We can go down with dignity and start next season on -12 points. Iles saying the Ameobi story is a "non-starter" and that "the majority of non-playing staff have been paid". He isn't sure about some part-time non-playing staff and the players...

Wonder if Connell will go at 11pm when Ken has held out for all he can? Or Ameobi perhaps? Brinksmanship, isn’t it.
As for Evans, I think that has to be the barrel scraped, doesn’t it?

Said it before, but as Edgar says in King Lear, "And worse I may be yet. The worst is not / So long as we can say 'This is the worst'."officer_dibble wrote: ↑Thu Jan 31, 2019 6:28 pmAs for Evans, I think that has to be the barrel scraped, doesn’t it?

The very bottom of the barrel. Not for me, thank you.

Sad, sad. If Sammi goes, turn the lights out. He's one of the few players we have who ever wants the ball and isn't afraid to run at defences. He's also the only one with a fifty-fifty chance of hitting the ball in the right direction.

He was trending on Twitter cos some of the details of his appeal, and how his lawyers had set about discrediting the witness has been released. Read that and though I bet this is the striker we’re in for.TonyDomingos wrote: ↑Thu Jan 31, 2019 6:55 pmofficer_dibble wrote: ↑Thu Jan 31, 2019 6:28 pmWonder if Connell will go at 11pm when Ken has held out for all he can?
