Can you name all 9, or is that being too literal again?

I make it Tamir is one of four fit central midfielders currently at the club, the injured three are also getting sold as part of your master debt reducing plan. Are we really going to last the season with Mark Davies, Muamba, Holden and unspecified 'kids'?

Riga is a moot point. If we could get rid of him he wouldn't still be here.

Its as moot as Cohen, in that he's got the same prospects and a similar amount of game time. Poor footballer, pointless waste of a squad number and wages. Coyle spotted it from the off when he signed Holden and Wilshere.

I'd rather take the risk of trying Cahill or Steinsson there. Even Danny Ward. They have basic football skills required of a central midfielder. Or getting someone on loan in January. Like a bag of cement. He's just a destitute, bankrupt paupers Nolan. Without the goals. Can't wait for Megson to get the Liverpool job so he can take him off our hands.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Steinsson in the middle of the park eh. (I don't ever recall him being there even by accident.) So mad it might work.

I imagine he'd be a bit like an inverse-Matty Taylor.

The thing is, yes we could. But would we want to. All sounds a bit tin-pot to me and not very well thought out.

However slanted your view of Cohen, I can't remember the last "kid" we bought through that was even up to that level. Bottom line is, I'm sure if OC spots we have one he'll try and use them.

Cohen isn't that bad. At least he's cheap and usually fit, which may be about all you can expect as cover for Bolton Wanderers really.

I can see us tackling a large part of our probelm without hurting our team.
How so

I can see max 5 million wage saving (EDIT..make that 6.5 as I overlooked Gardner)

I'm past worrying about our finances

We're fcuked...probably
I forgot to add in Sean Davies.

That'll sort it.
I'd keep Savis, I am sure OC can get him performing at a high level and good competition for Muamba, IF he can get and stay fit.

I agree we can save around £5m by getting rid of JLS, AOB, JOB, Riga, Cohen. We may also get rid of Blake and Gardner in the summer too which will save another £2m. We will have also lost Megson, Shittu and Hunt off the wage bill since these figures were published for another £3m savings. That all leaves the squad a bit thin, but Ward and Eaves may start to come through, and we could sell AAH and use that money to buy cover for our defence which would look a bit thin.

So, if we can save £10m off the wage bill, we get £8m more due to the improved sky contract, we gain £4m by finishing 8th (at £800000 per place), and gain £2.1m if we get 13 live games, as opposed to our usual minimum 10, which seems possible now we have a glossy, shiny new image, then that improves the bottom line by £24.1m. The fact that we haven't been paying out fees should see the player amortisation amount drop from the £16m, so it seems possible to get close to break even. But it would take a miracle like qualifying for the CL, winning the FA cup (even then raised expectations will demand more investment in the squad), or more likely cashing in on Cahill and others to start paying off the principal debt amount. Realistically we are hoping ED writes it off.

One further worrying thought about all this, is that barring a miracle on the pitch, we have no funds for buying without selling, and soon we will need to splash out to replace SKD, and Elmander even if he stays, and Klasnic, have probably only 2-3 good years left in them too. So its back to ED for another loan. Where does it end? Best not to answer that I feel.

Got to enjoy the good times while they're here. We've overachieved for 8 years without the kind of crazy expenditure that's crucified other clubs. The success of the current team has been based on sensible outlays and an emphasis on teamwork. We'll always have to cut our cloth but a good manager and positive approach can take you a long way on very little as Blackpool and ourselves are currrently proving.Buy young, develop and sell talent and play decent football that brings crowds and TV money. It's all the club can do and we are doing it at present.

And possibly payments left over from the Megson spending orgy.

More likely Leonard Cohen. I understand Megson wanted to play his music at half time, to give the place a lift.

Me too, but it's hardly uplifting half-time music...

I actually knew him in the 60's and early 70's - nice enough chap.
