Fook me - if he doesn't deserve to be called a legend for us, then nobody in my lifetime does.
Bang on HG. There's no point trying to make comparisons. Take him for what he was and what he gave us.

Had you achieved that BP, then YOU would be a legend.

Nat Lofthouse won trophies for BWFC, scored 30 international goals in 33 games for England, for Bolton his goals ratio was something like 1:2 - 200 goals in 400 plus appearances and deserves legendary status and is rightly a 'BWFC legend'

Now how does KD compare ?
Pele won three World Cups and scored over a thousand goals including 77 for Brazil.

Now how does Zico compare?

Lofthouse is obviously unequalled among Bolton players, so are you saying no one else can be called a legend? :conf:

I like quite a few members on here was not around during Lofthouses playing carrier and therefore cannot comment on if he stood for Bolton in all of his principles and ways but what I can say is that K.D was and always will be considered a spitting image of the club who carried the clubs opinions, values and traditions ahead of everything else. I do not think you will ever find a player who represent our club more so than KD however I am not going to say that Lofthouse did not have the same high standards and believe in the football club. If are football club could be transformed into a human being it would be K.D he basically seemed to worship the club while he played for us and I have never seen a footballer have such love for a football club as displayed at all times by K.D
The above post is complete bollox/garbage/nonsense, please point this out to me at any and every occasion possible.

He wasn't the captain. But he was certainly a key player.

The opinion of one the younger fans on here  Presently the name of good footballers is being destroyed and young children haven't got a suitable role model. Footballers are being motivated by money, disloyal to their clubs, diving, stamping, involved in sex scandals and other crimes. Kevin Davies however is a near perfect role model, gives 100 %, determined, loves his club, provides good leadership, honest, donates alot of his time and money into charity and as far as I'm aware hasn't been involved in anything to damage his name.

I grew up watching a Bolton Wanderers were many stars came and gone but Davies stayed and played a vital role in this clubs growth and success. He does not have the same technical ability has other players but what he brought was heart and determination. He's past his best now but no one can doubt the things he's done to this club.

He was always be a role model and a legend to me.

I'd drop the role model/legend bit. I dont know him that well nor do many of us but if I saw him in the street I would shake his hand then say thank you Mr Davies for our glimpse of glory, you are a large part in some of the best years for our club, you did the great man proud

I think I must be getting old...all this talk about what is a legend does seem incredibly childish. Nearly as childish as Kevin not wanting to hear bad news on his birthday..

Gartside went on the attack last night, calling Adrian Durham a prick, (which really is the best thing he's ever said).

And questioning why, seeing as Kevin Davies wife (though he didn't name her) had posted on Facebook in January that he was not being offered a new deal and was looking to leave, Kevin made out it was such a shock?

Both valid points, though he probably didn't need to make the second one.

I wonder if we will see KD in a Bolton shirt again?

Did he say that to you BWFCI? Or on a phone in? Because that's ace!

He said it live on Radio Manchester. You could probably find it somewhere online?

It was quite funny, he even refused to apologise for his description of Durham (though he did apologise for the language).

Couldn't believe my ears when Garty said that!! He then apologised to the listeners, but not to Durham.

But he is spot-on, can't stand Durham.

To be honest, I'm totally perplexed about the uproar over SKD. What exactly have the club done wrong. Is it to do with it happening on his birthday??
... of course I may just be talking bo11ocks
