Ooh, any chance of a cheeky loan of Huddlestone?Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Ooh Alan, you big tease.
McEachran's still available, what with Chelsea buying a million midfielders.
Or maybe we'll borrow one off Owen's old mate AVB at Spurs, although they're about to lose Modric to Madrid and most of their potential loanee midfielders are more forward than deep.

Jeysus ... Arsenal to Reading to Nott's County.Loyal White wrote:Rumour on another website seems to indicate we have signed James 'Julian' Kelly. A right footed left back from Notts County. 22 years old.
Don't know much other than it's mentioned there and not here.

I hope to fck we don't get told that we've "swooped" !!
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Think it's the wrong player. Heard something about a youth lad from Wycombe, same name, different player I think......Loyal White wrote:Rumour on another website seems to indicate we have signed James 'Julian' Kelly. A right footed left back from Notts County. 22 years old.

The Oracle is suddenly very pessimistic about our chances, commenting that we've lost three key midfielders and signed just the one in return.

He did play for Wycombe on loan. Not an unusual name but it could still be the same player.BWFC_Insane wrote:Think it's the wrong player. He threw a hissy fit when we initially looked like we wouldn't sign Ngog last summer, saying how important he was to us and what a problem it would be not signing him.truewhite15 wrote:The Oracle is suddenly very pessimistic about our chances, commenting that we've lost three key midfielders and signed just the one in return.

Not sure I'd trust his judgement.
He's right though in that we are a midfielder short, at least until/if Holden comes back. I think a loan deal of some sort is in order.
Not that fecking Josh bloke from Chelsea though. Someone proper hard.

Agreed. He's just said that the 3rd one is Holden, which is a little misleading, as he didn't exactly play last season.BWFC_Insane wrote:He threw a hissy fit when we initially looked like we wouldn't sign Ngog last summer, saying how important he was to us and what a problem it would be not signing him.truewhite15 wrote:The Oracle is suddenly very pessimistic about our chances, commenting that we've lost three key midfielders and signed just the one in return.

I'd actually be happy with McEachran. Can stick his foot in, can pass. But not as our only defensive midfielder. Come what may, we need two, surely. Problem is, I can't think of a "Muamba" who'd be available, so we might have to make do with two McEachran types...

McEachran isn't what we need he's not a DM. We need a big mean bastard. Who will knock shit out of other teams midfield.truewhite15 wrote:Agreed. Watch tomorrow, I bet after about 15 minutes you'll be wishing we had someone who could tackle in midfield. Cos we've got everything else pretty much!

Oh, I'm not denying that we need defensive midfielders, nor that we need someone who can tackle. I'm just of the opinion that while McEachran might not look the part, he can tackle. Sorta like Holden - to look at him, you wouldn't think of him as a successful tackler, but the evidence all points to the contrary.BWFC_Insane wrote:McEachran isn't what we need he's not a DM. I'd love to have this "hard bastard" of which you speak at the heart of our midfield. But other than the world's best, name some who you think would fit the bill. And then think which of those won't be first teamers, and we could pick up. The only one I can think of is Oriol Romeu of Chelsea, and I'm not even 100% on him.

What about that Bouba Diop on a free as a short term fix? Haven't seen him for a while, but that's the sort we need IMO. If he's fit enough, he'd do in the short term.truewhite15 wrote:Oh, I'm not denying that we need defensive midfielders, nor that we need someone who can tackle. But then getting someone like that relies on your manager sometimes playing 5 in midfield when you may get overrun. I suspect Coyle wants an all rounder to play in his 4 and that's where it gets difficult IMO.

Good shout on Bouba Diop. He's exactly the sort of player we need, and one hell of a shot on him as well. But then, we don't know what his wages are at. Plus, as you admit, we haven't actually seen him for ages - therefore, do we actually know if he's still good enough? He's big and black, yes, but if he's turned shit, we'll be paying his wages for nowt.

Bouba would be a perfect signing for us if we can find a second hand time machine. He is past it now at 34.BWFC_Insane wrote:

Would agree, but I was thinking about a temporary solution until we know if Holden was coming back.malcd1 wrote:Bouba would be a perfect signing for us if we can find a second hand time machine. He is past it now at 34.BWFC_Insane wrote:
