You may well not agree, but I'd stay with what we have till we're completely safe. Yes,we need new players, but right now isn't a time to be experimenting. If we can play with the commitment we showed today I'd leave it alone rather than see players who are trying dropped. Just a view.
Swap Knight for Ream/Boyata and I'd agree with that

I'm not saying that those players should be straight into the starting line-up by any stretch of the imagination, my dancing friend. But signing players who can provide competition and maybe kick those players in the first 11 to higher levels in order to keep their places is never, ever a bad thing, as I'm sure you'd agree.

Knight had a very good game today, other than the goal I don't think he a made mistake. Not to mention a few Cahill-esque sliding tackles.

Fair comment, but he doesn't have enough very good games.. Or even just good games.

i think most would agree - but you can't just sit back and hope nobody is injured or suspended - and should that happen - I'd rather have the backup ready!

here's a rare thing on TW nowadays... a good word for Zat...

I think he was spot on in the way he made a beeline for NRC at H/T (nobody else did) having had the nouse to see what was going on and what could possibly happen. last thing we need is NRC getting a ban for a punch-up in the tunnel with Bellamy...

I noticed that. Knight showed his experience there and got a bit of grief off NRC to boot. I don't think NRC had completely lost it but Bellamy had certainly got under his skin.

I don't think he had a bad game so credit where credit is due.

Yeah, that was good of him. Glad he didn't react to NRC's shoving too - looked like he wanted to fight anybody at that moment in time.

If only he could show that level of awareness during the game!

Very good unexpected 90 min performance....Mark Davies was outstanding, the possession, movement, workrate & passing in midfield was good to watch - NRC & Eagles had good games, more of the same please. TBH everyone played well, the back four played far to high a line 1st half against Bellamy's pace but 2nd half I thought the whole defence played well and we never looked like losing the lead (how many times can we say that !)

IMO best performance since Newcastle last season, considering the opposition - without getting carried away, if we can carry on playing with that spirit & tempo in that formation we have a chance of staying up and I never thought that I'd say that this season - we have some player in Mark Davies in that 4-5-1 formation, with the protection of NRC & Muamba he's improving in every game, let's hope we have him on a long term contract because he could possibly get into the england squad in the next year or so if he carry's on like this.

Finally, how much better is it having Ricketts at LB....

Great game for us, Liverpool may have been shit but we still had to beat them. I've read a few comments in the press about Bolton fans keeping faith with Coyle when other teams fans have turned on their manager, I think that its great that we have done ! COYWM!

I'm quite thankful that for the first time this season it is us showing another team why 4-4-2 is bad...

Excellent to see us knocking the ball about and looking so confident with it, and I particular loved that fact that we looked so full of running. Ngog led the line very well and brought Eagles, Petrov and MD into play effectively. Reo Coker was bossing it as per and the defence looked fine, albeit for the standard Zat Knight mistake per match.

Liverpool were several shades of shite though. A midfield pairing of Adam and Gerrard left them with a massive hole in the park where Mark Davies lived for 90mins. He was excellent today, but we'll see if he gets that much room against a team who employ a proper defensive midfielder.

But hey, I guess you can only beat what's put in front of you.

Now, for the Cup.

It's easy to forget how important ricketts can be and how much we missed him.Lee and Holden are obvious misses but Ricketts seems to bring more to the side than his footballing ability. We always look more like a team when he's involved whatever position he is playing

Quite apart from the sheer amusement of seeing other fans pissing & moaning what is a constant in the 'big clubs' sites are that the fans patince is about zero and the solution to any problem is to covet players doing the business elsewhere.

Reading that site they are convinced that 'King Kenny' (I never tire of smirking at that epithet) wasted £100m last summer, traded down on the ins & outs and that they should bin those players .... Adam, Carroll, Downing, plus Johnson ... and simply saunter around picking up well performing players from other clubs. Spending probably another £100m.

There's rarely a moment when they say "maybe we aren't using these players well. Maybe our tactics aren't well thought through or applied. Maybe there isn't a bottomless pit of money and which of these players are going to simply shake hands & move on when they get wages beyond the scope of the vast majority of clubs ?"

The Scouse shite were £150m in debt when the board piratically sold themselves to the new owners for a peppercorn. That still has legs in the courts btw. But having (legitimately or otherwise) cleared these debts the main aim appears to be to re-establish it. It's the corporate version of clearing your credit cards by a consolidation loan and then saying "hey ... I can afford to use the credit card again".

It hasn't dawned on them that the money spent last summer was the money they believed their re-emergence as Chumps League candidates will bring. They, effectively, built THIS team up on hoc. Not from a bank either, but from Wonga.com !!

I've said a few times that I hope & pray that they fail to get into the CL places this year. It will be the real beginning of their demise when this club will, finally and for the long-term begin to sink into the quagrime it deserves and become on a par with the shit hole in which it resides.

 Oh .... & the fans still seem to believe their extravagant and infeasible expectations for a huge, brand-spanking new ground will be on the way sometime soon and then they can properly compete with Stretford, Citeh, Chelsea and Arsenal. Not to mention all those foreign type clubs.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.
"I understand you are a very good footballer" ... "I try".
