Yeah Evatt says he’s back. So that’s three strikers into the squad whereas Weds we had one and a half only.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Sat Feb 25, 2023 10:21 amAnd he was.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Sat Feb 25, 2023 5:45 amSheehan played very well. There was no aimless running. He made space for other players very effectively. Evatt will have been very happy with him.
Still think he’s off in summer though - and it would be a big call not to replace him with Dempsey today.I thought it was a great performance from him. Just his intelligence of what space to take and what pockets to pick up, and when to dribble and pass. Ithink that was a great reminder from him to everybody to show what he can do.
Speaking of today, young Dan Barnes appears to say Nlundulu might be back.

Of course Evatt could have said nowt, but he seems (not unreasonably) to go with praise will get bigger returns...I'd be a bit disappointed if we weren't in the upgrade shop in summer...you'd have to wonder if the whole MF was fit, whether there'd be room on the bench for himDave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Sat Feb 25, 2023 10:21 amAnd he was.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Sat Feb 25, 2023 5:45 amSheehan played very well. Agree with that. Sheehan is a really clever player, like Kacha, who plays exactly how the manager wants him to play; but I think Evatt will want more physicality in there in the summer.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Sat Feb 25, 2023 10:21 amStill think he’s off in summer though - and it would be a big call not to replace him with Dempsey today.
Sheehan can play League One football. Could see him at Exeter if they lose Collins, but could also see him dropping back into League Two.
Re: Dem Bones, Dem Bones, Dem Bare Bones....
I thought he played well on weds too, but he's got a lot to do to get another deal. I just don't see him getting ahead of Morley or Dempsey, nor really having the physicality to do the job. In a different way to MJ but I think we've moved on from either being able to be regularly effective for us.
I'd have liked to see him get a run at 10, but also can't really see that with Shola in there now as well as SK. Worth bearing in mind it can take a long time to get fully back up to it after what was a horror injury. But think we'll be wishing him will to do it elsewhere next year, whatever happens. It's one of those natural lapses where you want someone who can knock Morley or Dempsey out of the side.
Wouldn't shock me if he started again today (assuming he has it in him) but only because I wouldn't be rushing Dempsey back unless we're sure he's fit.

It’s one of those weird ‘yes we are guilty sort of’ pleas isn’t it?Harry Genshaw wrote: ↑Wed Mar 01, 2023 7:20 pmDempsey pleads guilty to assault. To be sentenced 11th April.
We did what you said but there are mitigating circumstances.
Talk of jail time across the media. Pru has said that is unlikely so let’s hope so.

Him pleading guilty is rather at odds with the club's statement at the time. There's no chance FV/Sharon will take a moral high ground here and sack him, is there?

Year and a half on his contract. Would they want to get him off the books?Harry Genshaw wrote: ↑Wed Mar 01, 2023 8:08 pmHim pleading guilty is rather at odds with the club's statement at the time. There's no chance FV/Sharon will take a moral high ground here and sack him, is there?![]()
Big call as having a convict on the books as it isn't a good look for the club if we're trying to promote a healthy family club relationship with the fans. I think if he escapes a prison sentence then,
1. A remorseful apology to all.
2. Offers to go on anger management.
3. Community service, not court appointed.
4. We forgive and move on.

Kind of gives the whole "He's from a wonderful family" stuff when he arrived a bit of a tilt.
I don't know many wonderful families who go out and commit ABH together.

Their plea is guilty with mitigating circumstances. If my child was being harassed or physically harmed then I'm sure I'd step outside of my normal persona for that short time.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Thu Mar 02, 2023 12:09 amKind of gives the whole "He's from a wonderful family" stuff when he arrived a bit of a tilt.

Not sure that would include me and the lad taking turns kicking a guys head in, personally.
"Broken nose, fractures and chipped teeth" was the description of the victim, wasn't it? Along with some of the assault taking place "whilst the victim was prone" I find it pretty hard to defend.

I'd suggest that given we don't know the circumstances we do not speculate. Other than on sentencing which is of course reasonable debate - waiting on Pru!

A comment that's just a personal view:
Prosecution angle: There's a glaring world of difference between "heat of the moment" and "premeditated action". With the latter , time to think need only be short, but if it pre-empts action, then it's premeditated and deliberate. With the former, simply put and based on Newton "For every action (force) in nature there is an equal and opposite reaction."
Defence will know that despite mitigation motivated by love and defence of family, This doesn't describe or apply here and I reckon they've been told to plead guilty and hope for clemency from the judge . I'll listen to Pru's more educated view but I cant see how they can be not guilty. I want to be wrong, but if K.D's career with Bolton isn't finished, I'll be very surprised, because the media will feast on it.

Suspect we'd be better off positioning our club as a rehabilitation for troubled individuals if we're going to back Dempsey for his actions.
There's always room for redemption, but if they are going to come with tarnished reputations then I would expect the club to have them under some sort of contract that showcases remorse and attempts to showcase the error of their ways in an effort for others not to repeat the same mistakes.
Nobody is perfect, serve time, make amends and help going forward.

Worth mentioning that Ade is having a scan on his hamstring after the problem reoccurred during the warm up at Pompey.

Vik has a grade one strain and may be back for Ipswich, but is more likely to be back for the Owls game. Per Evatt.
