.... but, thankfully, he's unconcerned about our league position, largely because we have 4 home games coming up.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/26017582

Bolton manager Dougie Freedman says he is not worried by his side's lowly position in the Championship.

The Lillywhites (  ) are four points clear of safety after defeat at Ipswich.

Freedman told BBC Radio Manchester: "I am not concerned as the next four games out of five are at home. We have to pick up points. There is no doubt with the group of players we have, when they get into their rhythm, they are capable of winning games at this level. If we don't pick up points in them (home games) then I would be concerned, but we are looking forward to that run of games at home," added Freedman.

Bolton have not won in the league since victory at Barnsley on Boxing Day and were recently hammered 7-1 at Reading.
That confidence will be due to our tremendous home form then will it, Dug-larse ??

At the beginning of the season when he faced the fans I'm sure he said he wasn't a fan of the loan system as it trained up other clubs players!! Looks like he's changed his mind. I'm also sure he said he would have another Q and A session mid season and he would regularly answer questions via twitter and facebook . As far as I am aware none of these 3 things have happened. I wonder why ????

The man's on drugs.

Druggie Freedman.
I'm not asking you to 'think outside the box' I just wish you'd have a rummage around in it once in a while.

I certainly now have a better idea of why at the above mentioned event, he told us to stop living in the past - its all about the future (sorry no i didnt tape it before anyone asks for evidence). We are having new 'benchmarks' being set - next season we will be skipping when we manage 3 home wins :pissed:

I think Dougie is allowing for the upturn from the downturn while moving sideways, even though we haven't yet achieved proper movement which should be remedied when the window opens thus allowing some consideration of what will occur once the other clubs set out their tables. As it stands, his reluctance is more of an eager endeavour that subdues any other progression that he can engage in with fullest effect. As there are a few home games coming up, going down doesn't seem to be an option or could be if he wanted it to be but not as he views it at this moment in time. He'll probably consider other options in March or April, or maybe even May but seems to be relishing next seasons games with increased vigour. 8)

Here's what he actually said.
The football club has never been a training club; it's never been a club where you train players. I can't quite understand why it wouldn't be. With my business head on, I want it to be a training club. The young players at this football club - the Under-21s especially - if they're not going to make the first team then they've got to be loaned out and a little bit of money has got to be brought back in for the next crop of players coming through. There's another mindset to it for the players put out on loan to then get some experience to come back to play for the team. You're never going to find out until you send them on loan.
I believe the club has been guilty in the past of not being a training club and not being a club who would loan players for either of the two benefits. As last year, there will be a lot of younger players going out on loan from the 21s to go and grow up a little bit, play men's football and then we'll decide next year if they're going to be good enough to be in the first-team squad, or we'll recoup some money and let them have a career.
Freedman has said and done much that's wrong but I can't see much wrong with what he's saying there about developing Academy players so they're either good enough to use or sell.
But then, looking at the thread title...

Danny Ward? Chris Basham? The cynic in me says he's doing the club down as much as possible to give himself some breathing space. It's valid criticism if he can do any better. I doubt he'll get the chance.

I think broadly he has a point. We haven't really sent young players out en masse for experience and we have seemingly had a few with promise who just festered and some without who just took up space and resource.

For a while I've wondered why we haven't sent out most of our youngsters early to get the experience in.

C'mon DSB, its bollox and you know it. We've promoted a reasonable amount of young players, and we've loaned out dozens. To claim this as a New Order is self aggrandising on a, well, grand scale.

There is a point there of course, but do you not detect a slightly desperate subtext which pleads 'I might be shit with grownups but I'm dead good with the kids honest guv.'?

No, because in the real world there is more going on than who can win the Freedman in/out debate on the internetz.....even at Bolton Wanderers.....

Seriously though, you've have to have lived under a rock not to have noticed the young players who've done exactly what he says we haven't. Its just a load of horseshit.

Really? That wasn't my intention. I think he's slagging off my club and trying to big himself up, all while doing a very poor job as its manager. if you just think I'm trying to points score I'll discuss it with someone else.
