He's got a bit of a shitty personality, so I admit that he might not fall under Dougie's type, but he is definitely a pretty decent defender from when I saw him in games.

My thought process is we need a decent centre half for this level, we have limited transfer funds and someone has just been released on a free who is proven at this level.

I can see your thinking but he's not for me. We need someone who is commanding and strong and ideally an organiser. Just think Ferdinand isn't that. And he won't be cheap even after being released.

To be honest I've never really thought Andrews was anything special, He does a simple job, Often very poorly, Better off without him really. Good luck to him at Brighton though, any chance of a fee if they like him? How long has he left on his contract?

Considering he will be 33 in a couple of weeks time, I would be surprised if we could give him.

Of course Andrews is gonna be a revelation at Brighton and his performances alone will win them promotion. Its just our luck.

There is more chance of Fat Frank signing for Yeovil and being a revelation for them and winning them promotion. How Andrews ever made it as a footballer (and an international) is beyond my level of comprehension. I can't believe that Brighton want him.

I think we should sign him if he fits into Dougie's plan and his wages are low enough (both unlikely) but that's a bit too far...he never really shone. I'd just rather him than Knightmare or that clumsy Wheater, but hopefully the latter will improve with game time.

So you both want us sign someone who has just been RELEASED by newly RELEGATED QPR because he's bound to be better than one of our two established centre-backs simply based on the fact that he doesn't, currently, play for us?

He's old for a Dougie signing and he's got negative attitude. He would add f'call but more cost and what makes you think he'd sign for us even if Dougie was mad enough to go for him ?

It's a crackpot suggestion, as proven by the only person on here who so far agrees with you being the one I wouldn't trust to fasten Velcro.

Depends how involved Coyle was in the negotiations. When it comes down to it, Phil G signed last summer's cheques – for Andrews, Knight, Ricketts and Mills, four players who were hardly in strong bargaining positions. Coyle may have said "I don't care if you have to smash the wage structure and sell the West Stand, get me their signatures" but it seems unlikely.

I've a lot of respect for PG - a model chairman compared to some in our past and other clubs' presents - but someone, somewhere, seems to have made some very bad calls last summer, and far all his faults I don't think we can cane Coyle alone for wage negotiations.
