We were 18th when he took over, eight games later, we're still 18th. We're 'improving' so slowly, it's completely imperceptible.
Douglas has raised our ppg from 1.1ppg this season under coyle to 1.375ppg

which is a perceptible 0.275 pts per game improvement

over a whole season - that represents 13 extra points

over the season left from when dougie took over - that represents 9 extra points

are you saying that is not a perceptible improvement?
He took over from Jimmy Phillips whose 'ppg' was virtually identical. We might as well have given him the job.

except IIRC, he publicly said he didn't want it - so that's a stupid argument!! You'll be agreeing that in fact there IS a perceptible improvement on Coyle, then? just to be clear...

When Coyle left we were 17th. We're now 18th, so no, i don't think there has been any perceptible improvement. Nor did Jimmy Phillips say he didn't want the job as far as i'm aware.

you can see an increase in the number of points we are getting compared to the previous (non-interim) manager - yet you cannot bring yourself to accept that 1.375 is bigger than 1.1??

is it - or isn't it??

if you prefer the league position measure...

then had we not sacked Coyle - with his ppg ratio - we'd have 23pts and we'd be 19th - with only Ipswich's dire goal difference keeping us off being 20th - and we'd be 3 pts closer to the relegation than we are now..

so..

Coyle - 1.1ppg - 19th place - 23pts

or

Freedman - 1.375 - 18th place - 26pts

it's not huge - but it is discernible.

y'see - people would respond to you better if you actually called it as it is and were willing to accept that it is actually slightly better under Freedman (would it be so hard for you to admit that?) - and that given Freedman has only just arrived - he still has some benefit of the doubt...

With coyle - the benefit of the doubt drained away months ago...

Err - I've said it before but it's worth saying again:

A team that starts Kevin Davies is going nowhere.

Dougie Freedman - currently stealing a living.

Being almost, but not 100%, sure that was a Goodfellas reference (I remember the 'Funny how?' bit but not the rest) I googled it. Turns out I've actually turned into Bella Swan. Oh dear. I didn't see that coming!

That point isn't really valid.. our position depends on more than what we do.. Coyle left us playing catch up, if the teams above you keep winning points then you will continue to play catch up.

If we didn't lose again this season it wouldn't mean feck all unless teams above us drop points.

Coyle left us in 17th.. Freedman in his time here has us in 13th in the form table.. looks like progress to me.
