I doubt Diarra would come a-runnin' into our arms. He's also 32 in a week so it'd be a risk. And I suspect there are other befired irons in the midfield.SmokinFrazier wrote:A midfield pairing of Medo and Diarra with Davies in front of them would be glorious.
The likes of Shotton, Brunt and Pennant will expect Premier League football, and probably get it. A few less eye-grabbing names, of the type designed to elicit groans:
Villa's Eric Lichaj - 24, adaptable (either-sided full-back). No second-tier experience though
Norwich's Marc Tierney - Prestwich-born 6ft left-back or centre-back, 27, unfavoured under Hughton. Lower-league chops (Shrewsbury, Colchester) and a second-tier half-season with Norridge
Also at Norwich, diminutive striker Simeon Jackson bagged a few last time the Canaries were in this division
Southampton's Frazer Richardson - 30-year-old right-back (but adaptable) with 100+ games in this division
Sunderland's Matt Kilgallon - 27yo left-sided centre-back, spent some time in this division and some in the top flight

The Championship contract-expiry list is fascinating. Barnsley have a fair few too - I'd forgotten all about Reuben Noble-Lazarus, who played for them at 15 yrs and 45 days old – and I can't believe their versatile defender Martin Cranie's only 26, feels like he's been around for years.malcd1 wrote:Bloody hell. Blackpool are going to be busy this summer. They have 23 players contracts coming to an end. Not saying all are leaving but quite a few will.

Would anyone be against Danny Simpson? apart from getting dropped outside The Rice Flamebar and Grill in Manchester he was never a terrible player for Newcastle just got dropped because Alan Pardew fancied some French!

Tulisa at the Reebok supporting him could be interesting!
Re: The "Nothing to see here"Transfer thread
Fair play to Eddie if he is prepared to back Dougie (although our financial situation remains as unclear to me as ever), but I'm not sure I'd be spending it on those two.
Beckford is edging towards 30, Everton let him go after one season, Leicester let him go after one season and Huddersfield appear to be showing no interest in signing him after one season (opting instead to try and get James Vaughan). He's actually only ever played two full seasons at Championship level - the last two, scoring 15 goals for Leicester and 9 for Huddersfield.
Conversely, over the past two seasons Sordell has scored 10 goals in half a season at Watford and 8 this season for us, he's seven years younger, plays in a similar style, will be on less wages and we've already chucked £3m on him that we're unlikely to get back if we cut our losses now.
I'm not even sure how we'd begin to try and sign Vydra when Watford still don't know what division they'll be in next year, but as good as he looked earlier in the season, he won't come cheap and hasn't scored for 13 games.

Followed Beckfords career a bit when he was at Leeds, then he sort of went off the radar until very recently at Huddersfield. Good player with the right service, remember his goal against Man United in the F.A cup well as Leeds fans up here never shut up about it. Didn't he also score against us at Goodison a couple seasons back?
Speaking of ex-Leeds, Becchio has hardly been given a fair crack at Norwich. Maybe he'll be sent out on loan next season?

Yeah, I think his wage demands would be too high as well but I do rate him as a player. It's not realistic though, sadly. I'd love someone like Chris Brunt too but he's too good for the Championship.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:I doubt Diarra would come a-runnin' into our arms. He's also 32 in a week so it'd be a risk. Have heard that Frank Lampard might be a decent player!

Doyle's on a free. I wouldn't say no, also Chris Cohen of Forest
Pfffft.
Re: The "Nothing to see here"Transfer thread
There's no way it'll be Vydra. He's only (just) 21 and had a cracking season. Back at Udinese next year I reckon.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Mills to be sold with Leeds the front runner. Then we will try and get Dawson according to a few reports.
Dawson would be the biggest signing of the summer if we pull it off IMO. Followed closely by someone who can put the ball in the onion bag regularly.
