Yes, but it's an outlay that could've been avoided, had the club wanted to get rid. There's also the additional cost of paying his replacement.Nicko58 wrote:If it is a viable option to put Lennon on gardening leave, and I am not sure whether it is or isn't, would the outlay not be the same as it is now?Bruce Rioja wrote:But what I'm saying is, Enoch, if the club's going to pass up on the opportunity of getting rid for free, then it's certainly not going to take up an option that involves outlay. Well, that's how I see it anyway.Enoch wrote:I fancy the point being made is, Mr Rioja, we might be better paying Lennon his wages to stay away than have him around the place.Bruce Rioja wrote:We do though. We would still have to cough up his wage(minus bonuses) but a change in Leadership could turn out to be a master stroke! We already pay Jimmy and his passion for the Club could prove pivotal!

I can't see him wanting it. He had a taste of it and seemed happy to go back to the academy.jonnycooper wrote:We would still have to cough up his wage(minus bonuses) but a change in Leadership could turn out to be a master stroke! Iles doing a Q&A via Twitter and the BN website now. Nothing new on the takeover front but he's a lot more critical of Lennon than before.

Iles has little to lose by keep toeing the club line now, lets hope somewhere inside is a decent Jurno who will find the truth.LeverEnd wrote:I can't see him wanting it. Can the moth play up front?TANGODANCER wrote:Yesterday, Zac Clough, our star player, apparently missed not one, but two convertable chances. Lennon was nowhere near him at the time. Scoring them would have given a Merry Christmas to the travelling fans. The rest of the players, probably a bit pxssed off that their futures are uncertain and wondering if they'll get paid this month, might just possibly not have as much enthusiasm as would normally be expected. Lennon, unfortunately, can't pay their wages; he might not even be getting his own paid. The chances of him now strengthening the squad are as likely as me winning the lottery, simply because the wallet has only a dead moth left in it.

In the summer Lennon signed 9 (9 I can think of at least) players. Yesterday just one of those signings made the starting lineup.TANGODANCER wrote:Yesterday, Zac Clough, our star player, apparently missed not one, but two convertable chances. The chances of him now strengthening the squad are as likely as me winning the lottery, simply because the wallet has only a dead moth left in it. In addition, the team coach will probably need repairs to its bodywork and windows where our own fans decided to redecorate it for New Year. The insurance company may just put up a fight claiming self inflicted injury. The owner and the board of directors meanwhile, the real apparent villains for blatant mis-management of the club, are nowhere in sight. The spirit within the dressing room however is still expected to burn as brightly as what is left of the Christmas candles.
In other words, blame and stone-chucking will get us absolutely nowhere.
He is responsible for the lack of spirit in the group. The lack of organisation. The general shambolic nature of our play. The total lack of any attacking pattern.
He is responsible for the totally abysmal results since January 2015. Other clubs have nowt to spend or are in transfer embargoes. So can only sign players even Bolton don't want.
We are the only side with such a terrible winless record.
It isn't an easy job. But any blame Lennon receives is entirely deserved. He's got away with a lot. He's been very very lucky to get off so lightly.

given that we never had any cash - I'm struggling to find justification for signing players that we don't play...
there was a time on this forum that Lennon was acclaimed as a breath of fresh air in the transfer market - after his signings of Derik and Prince - at last a manager who can pick a defense...
it's quite sad...
I remain of the opinion that given our position at the time, Lennon was probably as good a manager as we could have hoped for - there was no obvious reason for thinking he wouldn't do a decent job... I don't think folk should be too quick to condemn those who opted to employ him... plenty on here agreed he was an ace appointment.
I also remain of the opinion that lennon is simply out of his depth - and has failed to adapt to a league and a situation he has never met before and is SO MUCH more different from managing Celtic than he ever imagined it could be.
I also remain of the opinion that given time - and possibly without the calamitous circumstances that have engulfed the club - he COULD have worked it out with us in this league... but I guess we're past that now
it's sad that it hasn't worked out - that there may not be the time he needs to adapt and grow - not if the fans have finally turned on him...
he HAS had the benefit of a LOT of patience from the fans - up until this point he has been teflon Lenny - I don't think anyone can complain at the fickleness of the fans - he has been given every benefit of the doubt...
as it happens - i still think that were there a takeover - and probably a relegation and a massive player turnaround - then if we kept him on - there's a chance he could come good with us... I doubt he i as bad a manager as the DISASTROUS run of results and his PPG suggest... it's not all bad luck - he has clearly made mistakes... and his signings haven't turned out well!! but I don't think it is always the answer to roll the dice again... however - I suspect he has just about reached a tipping point - and any such speculation about whether he COULD do a job for us in the future will be merely hypothetical...

Did you say a clone of himself as a player all he did was argue never any talent in him if his buddy Martin O Neil had not taken him to Celtic when he did he would have been finished that is the problem with him he has no fresh ideas except of course as a piss artist chasing women and the longer we say give him a chance the longer our torture will continue because if anything is certain about Lennon nothing is ever his fault.Hoboh wrote:What I don't understand is why we have the soft, feeble minded players on the pitch we do when surely to God it was the 'norm' for nearly every Scottish team where nearly every game could be classed as a local derby!
Lennon needs a clone of himself on the pitch but I wonder if that worries him?

Re: Bedsheets, Pitchforks and colours nailed etc.
Lennon got distracted in 2015 and team results nosedived. Now we know why.
I shudder to believe that he can instruct any player to stay focussed and committed when he himself was a living example of a man who wasn't. A man of his word he isn't.
I simply cant get my head around him signing 2 right backs to solve our RB issue, especially given our finances, then discarding both of them. That certainly doesn't look like a man thinking clearly.
We have to remove him from around the team sooner than later so that we can start salvaging what's left of our club.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Interesting article but 'excellent' is stretching it a bit! Excellent start, yes. He should have run a mile though, the guy is spot on with that.Sure, it’s a decent-sized club with history and tradition. But those debts and their gradual decline should have seen the Northern Irishman run a mile. It’s credit to Lennon that he’s actually done an
excellent job down there. Let’s face it, with the resources he’s had to work with
compared to Championship rivals, it’s a miracle they’re still in that league.

It's a terrible article. He's done an absymal job. Has resources greater than several teams in this league. And if comfortably swap him for any other manager in this league.
Bloke has been found out. He's a thick, clueless, cheat of a man.
Anyway Bolton news reckon end is nigh for him irrespective of today's result.

Re: Bedsheets, Pitchforks and colours nailed etc.
It's a guy who hasn't been watching Bolton and is making assumptions. Interesting to see how others view it though. Tells me that our situation isn't really that newsworthy in any depth nationally. He's just seen the headline figures and made assumptions. Also suggests that Lennon's rep won't be anywhere near as damaged as it could be and that the excuses are lined up and ready to be swallowed if this journo is anything to go off.BWFC_Insane wrote:It's a terrible article. OR... maybe lenny's got a journo friend to start the ball rolling - create the story that will define his time at Bolton post resignation/sacking... "did a great job under impossible circumstances"...

Re: Bedsheets, Pitchforks and colours nailed etc.
( Resources he's had to work with)? He's had a darn sight more than the majority of Managers in this league! Financially the shit has hit the fan,but Lennon has had the opportunity to sign players, and spectacularly ballsed it up! I know I keep banging on about Gary Rowett at Birmingham, but they both took their respective posts at the same time! They have had pretty much the same spending power,at 2 Clubs that are in the shit! One has proven that he's a good Manager,One has not!
Re: Bedsheets, Pitchforks and colours nailed etc.
Rowett again. Had arguably a better side (certainly one capable of scoring more goals), didn't have to sell his best players, had some money to spend in the summer.
Not quite the same as signing 9 players on frees for two and three grand a week is it?
Undoubtedly Lennon has not been as good as we've needed him to be, and he may even now be part of the problem, but lets not get hysterical. He would have had to have been very, very good indeed to save us from this mess.

Re: Bedsheets, Pitchforks and colours nailed etc.
So are you saying that no other Manager would have had our squad in a better position?Lennon squandered the funds available here,I would argue that Lennon and BWFC had a considerably better squad than Birmingham,he let Kellett and Davies go and signed Madine and Dervite? Very astute! He,ll walk away into another good job blaming our finances for what a shit job he,s done.I was astounded when he became our Manager and thought we,d pulled a master stroke, but his decision making has been appalling! We have a very highly paid player in Medo who can,t even make the bench! He never once has shouldered any blame for any of our results!Would the local Bread factory Manager keep his job if his employees were not producing, and just acting like Muppets?
