For new signings, ask the man from the Pru

Can we apologise to Aaron Mooy, and get him back.

Better than any English midfielder last night.

We have nothing to apologise to him for. We offered him a contract but he turned it down because he thought he wouldn't get into our midfield, and at that time he probably wouldn't. However, I do take your point.

We're about to splash out on two players according to the BN ....

WANDERERS are poised to shell out more than £500,000 on transfer fees.

But fans longing for the end of the embargo will have to wait in hope a little longer – the outlay is for two players who represented the Whites last season.

A payment of £250,000 owed for Wellington Silva, the Brazilian winger loaned from Arsenal, while a final £330,000 instalment is also owed to Liverpool for midfielder Jay Spearing as part of the deal which brought him from Anfield in 2013.

^^^ which brings a "wtf" from me.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Also:

"Wanderers are anticipating another one or two names to become available in the coming week but have penned in an interview on Wednesday with a manager who was on their original shortlist."

Make of that what you will.

Oh and the odds-on favourite for the Blackburn job might free up a few candidates for us: it's 8-1 on to be Owen Coyle.

They've "penned in" an interview with him?

So, arranged?

Penned in is more definite than pencilled in. If he tries to postpone we'll have to cross it out and that's literally a mark against his name.

Or it could be penned in like on One Man And His Dog.

A bit of idle unsubstantiated transfer gossip for Pru's moribund thread.

Anderson, quoted by BN:
I think we've already identified around 40% of the players we want to bring in for the start of next season once the embargo is lifted.
When we spoke to the candidates about who we’d picked out, every one of them were in agreement and said they would have been on their list too. They were nodding along and saying “good choice". Of course, it’s okay picking players out, but we need to barter with the agents and the clubs too.
Without goals we won’t get promoted, it’s as simple as that. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see where the squad needs improvement and I’d like to think we could bring a couple of people in to solve that particular problem.
Iles expects two strikers a bunch of loanees. And yes, all this is contingent on clearing that bloody embargo, with Anderson having "confirmed to The Bolton News that he will have to invest the money he guaranteed during the takeover for it to happen."

What is the lowest number that 40% can encompass? 2 out of 5 players?

And really, is anyone going to go to an interview for a job they want (for whatever reason) and say to their new prospective boss that they know f*ck all? Of course you'll blow smoke up his arse.

Unless you say "if you're after that kind of player, how about this guy over here..." I wouldn't take it badly if an interviewee had ideas of his/her own, especially an idea I hadn't had (and I doubt KA/DH have scouted every player available).

As for the first one: he says "around 40%" and 33% is quite near, so maybe it's 1 in 3.

I'm just a little sceptical that all the candidates said "yeah boss, that's a brilliant idea", unless they were all Phil Neal of course.

Has anyone mentioned Phil Neal yet. He isn't working, is he? Just saying.

Hasn't got previous experience of taking a club out of this division. Except downwards.

As for the quote - well it's Anderson so history suggests we take it with a side-order of salt. But it's quote about signings, from the guy who owns the club, so I thought it worth mentioning.

The new club spokesman, Lee Anderson, makes positive noises about the CEO and chairman's relationship, appointment of a new manager, lifting of the embargo and transfers in & out.

I've put it on here because of the claim that "a couple of our big hitters" will be leaving soon (and not on loan). Happy days.

Whereas I've put it (with quotes) on the Sports Shield thread :D

Sooner we get shut, the better... Yes we'll have to replace but I can't imagine Mavies is worth nine times the average L1 wage, Pratley seven times. Release the albatrosses!

Also on the site: We're considering asking to loan Holding back if he goes where he won't get regular football - and we might also wait for a tribunal next summer.
