Now THAT would be bloody surreal.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

has anyone told Arsene that if that Wilshere kid needs to make an injury comeback he could pop by for a bit?

I'd be happy to get Gardner training with the team on a non-contract basis, effectively a rolling trial. And if he impresses, see if he wants a pay-per-play contract - although that's far from a gimme considering it would rule him out of playing for anyone else for the near future.
Coyle won't. And with some reason. As noted, he's already got a spare left-back, for whom he paid £2m, loafing about on the bench. Might somewhat affect his confidence to be overlooked for a superannuated crock we've already released.

No argument with the anti-Coyle feelings but Ricketts can play either side. I've not seen him stand out as having a 'mare, not sure what all the fuss is about on LB situation.
The players you fail to sign never lose you any money.
Re: Jaffka's gossip thread on the ins and outs at the 'Bok
maybe it's because Mears can often be below par - and so it'd be nice to have ricketts in his "proper" position on the right - and then play another left back...Armchair Wanderer wrote:No argument with the anti-Coyle feelings but Ricketts can play either side. personally I don't think Alonso is as utterly crap as some people make out he is... for one thing - I don't think he's even had a consistent run of starts to have even made that kind of judgement...

Alonso did seem to have a good understanding with Petrov ... which would allow him to play to his strengths also.thebish wrote:maybe it's because Mears can often be below par - and so it'd be nice to have ricketts in his "proper" position on the right - and then play another left back...Armchair Wanderer wrote:No argument with the anti-Coyle feelings but Ricketts can play either side. Re: Jaffka's gossip thread on the ins and outs at the 'Bok
that understanding did look promising - but it DID follow a partnership with Robbo - (for which Petrov often got the blame!!) - after which most partnerships would look thoroughly well-oiled!bobo the clown wrote:Alonso did seem to have a good understanding with Petrov ... which would allow him to play to his strengths also.thebish wrote:maybe it's because Mears can often be below par - and so it'd be nice to have ricketts in his "proper" position on the right - and then play another left back...Armchair Wanderer wrote:No argument with the anti-Coyle feelings but Ricketts can play either side. He wasn't so good v Derby. But he does seem to offer more on the right for me, and most of what he was poor at v Derby, probably wouldn't have mattered where on the park he was..Armchair Wanderer wrote:No argument with the anti-Coyle feelings but Ricketts can play either side. Every player in the team except Knight, Eagles and Kevin Davies are under performing right now but when Ricketts is on form, he's a good left back, even if he is right footed. I can see an argument to move him over to the right and then bring in Alonso for Mears but I don't think we need a left back.

Re: Jaffka's gossip thread on the ins and outs at the 'Bok
For me it's more a question of who will be the least disastrous alongside knight. It's harder to get away with a weak centre half than a weak full back. Ream looks lost,Mills looks slow.Ideally I'd clone ricketts and play him in all 3 positions as he's better than the alternatives .SmokinFrazier wrote:Every player in the team except Knight, Eagles and Kevin Davies are under performing right now but when Ricketts is on form, he's a good left back, even if he is right footed. Ricketts has been and will continue to be gash at left back. its ludicrous to think otgerwise.
put him right back and sign wayne bridge or nicky shorey or some other perrenial loanee left back. at least thats what the new man will do. soon.
