Getting a bit fed up of media reports making excuses for us getting a point at Villa. Shearer and co hinted at them being at sixes and sevens (although the MOTD lot did state we should have won it) and all the focus is on their management changes and them being "off the boil". Even the match reports spend most of the time on this topic. If they had managed to score a couple of their chances I'm pretty sure that, combined with Young's "wonder-goal" free kick, we'd have been hearing how wonderfully well they played. To me, they played as well as we allowed them to and we fully deserved at least the point. We were away from home to a good side and it'd be nice to get a bit more credit from the media.....for a change. No heads went down when we were a goal behind, just the opposite in my view, and but for Friedel we could have had a couple more well worked goals. His save from Petrov was world class, yet didn't even get mentioned in The Sun's report, nor Elmander's great run (nor the possibility of a penalty from it, neither of which was on MOTD).

Agree completely - and you're not the only one with a beef about how their team gets portrayed in the media:TANGODANCER wrote:Getting a bit fed up of media reports making excuses for us getting a point at Villa. A crap paper, agreed, but normally decent on football coverage with their "Goals" supplement.thebish wrote:good for the soul Tango! and Amen to every word! Should be used to it by now - I don't even pay attention to the media's opinion of us - I couldn't give a shiny one.TANGODANCER wrote:Getting a bit fed up of media reports making excuses for us getting a point at Villa. One commentator thought it was a penalty on Lee while the other thought it would have been a soft one to give. IIRC both thought Elmander's was pretty nailed on, their point being that the defender lifted his foot after Elmander had passed him to deliberately clip Elmo's leg. One thing is for certain they could not stop praising Kevin Davies for his uncanny ability to get his head on nearly every single ball in his general vicinity, given that he isn't the tallest person on the pitch most times.Horza wrote:What do the Korean commentators think about the refereeing?
They also loved when Zat Knight pulled Ashley Young up off the ground by his shirt, remarking that watching them was like seeing a man against a boy.

And I thought the MOTD coverage was fairly complimentary towards Bolton, even if in a roundabout assholish kind of way, ie 'we're used to them being crap but this is better.'

With some of the saves that Friedel had to make, I'd stick him in there instead of Bogdan!thebish wrote:SupaKev makes Garth Crooks' Team of the week starting XI - and Bogdan makes the squad!
