The coffee pots on the stove!

Some of you will soon start to smell it.

We need a no nonsense nasty SOB but one who also knows how to handle players, not someone who talks the talk but actually walks the walk.

I'd give it to hoboh and the rocks/rucksack/Rivington training methods for at least ten games.

Keep your wage demands low though, hobes, please, we're poorer than church mice remember.

Pulis would actually do for me at the moment given he has experience of English leagues and being he's a no nonesense type.
Won't happen though because Fat Phil will not admit to being a lousy judge of character, you only need to see how long ginger and Coyle outstayed their usefulness by to back that up.

Like most on here I'd actually love a go and probs do it for around a tenth of what they are paying Freedman now.
The front door at Chorley would be painted Red and a sign welcoming them to hell would be the first indication of times to come

I actually believe that the coaching is much of a muchness, all clubs must be similar.
Player quality counts obviously and clubs like ours have some decent tools to work with, so its down to how the manager injects that 1-2% that means you have a confident team or a group of aimless individuals.

Surely the same could be said of a great many managers that have previously had a couple of quid and a glimmer of success. I really don't understand this specific clamour for Pullis to be installed as our manager?!

It's hypothetical anyway as Douglas isn't going anywhere soon, I'd say.
Pulis is experienced, out of work and has won promotion before. He's also unikely to pick up a top half prem job.
However I'm not keen and would much prefer Dougie to come good. Not looking good right now though.

I'd also prefer Dougie to come good, but Pulis as much as I hate his style of play would be a decent option for Wanderers. He turned into this high-spending low output manager at Stoke but perhaps he was resting on his laurels a little bit, as he even admitted the team had to change style soon before he left the club.

I wonder what he'd think of our backline when he's had proper no-bullshit players like Shawcross and Huth at his disposal. Fairly one-dimensional players yes, but actually good in that dimension unlike some of our lot...

I think it seems some people are of the opinion that our players don't respect the manager and are acting billy big bollocks.

That may be the case but I wonder if really that's what is going on. Would Allardyce (hypothetically) promote this side or would he come in and change half a dozen or more players? I don't know but I suspect the latter. Would he get the funds though to do it? I suspect not.

Yes it is. If he's not strong enough to manage professional footballers then he shouldn't be doing the job. Can you imagine Allardyce or Rioch putting up with players whose egos are bigger than their talent?

yeah... it is - kinda - the manager's job to - well - MANAGE the players, isn't it?

I don't know what the answer is frankly. If we do change manager and it proves to be that simple then I will be delighted. But sadly I highly doubt that is the case.
you USED to think that it was as simple as changing the manager!!

as it happens - I agree with you - i think we just have to batten down the hatches and wait for the storm to pass... it will - eventually! Dougie is not free from blame for our lack of achievement, though... you USED to say (of dougie) that the players now know what they are doing and what they are supposed to be doing - he had them organised and disciplined into a formation. The opinion of several who go is that the team don't appear to have any idea what they are supposed to be doing...

Don't respect this manager? Yes.

Wouldn't respect a Big Sam? Not sure your logic follows.

Lets be clear, if we don't beat Derby, this is a relegation battle and I'd take the dead cat bounce of a new regime just to get some points on the board.

we didn't have THAT much of a bounce when Freedman arrived - did we? or am i misremembering? it's by no means inevitable!

i thought that was a good deal later than the period the dead-cat-bounce normally refers to...

We would have been promoted last season with Allardyce in charge. He would have organised the team to defend properly, something that Dougie has so far failed to do, despite all his waffle about 'managing the game' when we don't have the ball.

I'd say judging by results so far this season it was classic dead cat bounce territory.
