As you were hotdog...
Re: Going up the Rs
What did I miss? Another opportunity to bash Knight? Woe is me.
Re: Going up the Rs
have already written this once - but firefox did summat mental when I posted it and ate all my words... the first version was far more insightful and witty and generally ace compared to this poor relation of a rewrite...
first - the obligatory guff about it being good to meet up with virtual forum people - domingo, DSB, enoch, GtE, GG, Pru, Kinty etc... (no sign of Dan by the time I got to O'Neills - and we spotted the General and hid around the corner...)
anyway - FWIW - a fairly randomly ordered set of opinions...
1) we were not outclassed - they are 2nd - how are they 2nd???
2) Sparky - he's ace - give him the ball more often and get him to run at people - they don;t like it up 'em
3) Lee - frustratingly close but also far away from being the real deal... the goal was down to him not giving up on a ball and keeping it in by the corner flag.. he always wants the ball - makes himself available - has quick feet - CAN go past a man - but his shooting is utterly woeful - and too often the game slows as he dribbles horizontally across the pitch looking fior an outlet when there isn't one.. (that's not entirely his fault!)
4) dunno why Lee came on for Danns and not - say - spearing... but then spearing did score (if an og counts!) - so what do i know!!
5) new striker guy - i thought he did really well - holds ball up nicely - isn't easily shrugged off it - brings others into play - Lee/Pratley/Mavis - hasn't much pace - but does look up for a fight
6) Hayden White - did himself no harm - will improve if he ever gets a run of games
7) didn't really see either of their goals - they were up the other end - so I have no idea who was to blame, if anyone
eight) despite what DSB might tell you - or anyone else - it was Baptiste who hit the bar...
9) how on earth are QPR SECOND??
ten) the view was fine!

Err Bish, thanks for that, but how were both their goals "up the other end"?
Did you change ends at half time?

Re: Going up the Rs
Austin's goal came when Phillips beat Baptiste and chipped a ball to the far post. From memory, when it went over Knight (who had reasonably enough tracked toward the near post) it was far too high to head even if Zat were actually 7ft tall. Austin blind-sided the kid and scored.
Enoch challenged me to find what Zat did wrong in the game, and I couldn't find much (bar one late incident in the Rs box when he went down under a challenge, hoping for a penalty, rather than jump).
Their second, up the other end, was harder to tell. Tony Domingos insisted Lonners could have done better, but I was more dischuffed with our midfielders not shutting Henry down.
Bish: First time I've been on the top deck there, it's been a while since I went up the Bush. Excellent view, much better than the lower-tier crap. And by the by, nice to be in a ground with not one stand named after a compass direction. Proper.
If we had to bring Lee on - and width was needed - I'd've taken on Pratley, who was his usual willing but limited self, and shifted Sparky into the No.10 role. But that would require passing through midfield and we didn't often enough have the courage to do that.

Re: Going up the Rs
Knight 100% not to blame for the goal.
White at fault. If a senior player had done that they'd be rightly getting stick, but he's not, and so rightly won't IMO.
In isolation Baptistery could have done better but that was the only time Phillips beat him all game so he gets a pass too. Just one of those things. Sometimes good players will score goals against you. Cracking leap from Austin.

Didn't see the second at the time. Poor first clearance, after that not a lot else they could have done
Midfield seemed to get out as quickly as they could, and don't think there was much Lonergan could have done. Just one of those things. Sometimes shit players score goals.
Pleased to be right on both ide tities in question. Cravies hitting the bar and Dunne with the OG .

Yeah, thought it was Hill with the oggie. Hollered myself hoarse at the Tranmere bastard anyway after clearly leading with his elbow in a late arial challenge. And because he's a Tranmere bastard.
