Huddersfield sack Duff.
Is this good or bad for us? I guess bad.

They've just announced their Academy manager will be stepping up until the end of the season.

With the caveat that I know nothing about his credentials, I'd assume a rival sacking an experienced manager and replacing him with a youth coach on a interim basis is more likely to be good rather than bad news for us.

Suppose it's the equivalent of us giving it Jules Darby till May. It might work, it may not; but it will mean they will be short-staffed behind the scenes until then.

They only mentioned Duff had left. They appoint Worthington, if that's the "extent," then you might expect that Worthington's focus was all "first team" and they're less worried about their Academy....

Their fans are more p1ssed off that Mark Cartwright, their DoF, hasn't been sacked off first. He's getting no amount of vitriol and many are wanting their club to re-sign Markham. They're not too happy with the interim appt really either.
Age and treachery will always overcome youth and skill!

And the key to a result is a good :kettle:

There's the old DoF, again!

 and look who they want back!

Is it good news? Well, not facing Duff has got to be a tick, although more for Evatt's Bolton than Darby's or Schuey's. On the other hand, when your opponent is shooting himself inthe foot, don't stop him... I dunno, it's another wildcard to throw into the playoff race.

It has happened before that a Yorkshire club has elevated the academy manager and won promotion - Heckingbottom at Barnsley, 2016.

Yeah I’d say the likelihood is that this is a negative for us. Duff wasn’t doing well and the fans had completely turned on him. An uptick in their form wouldn’t be surprising now.

Barnsley turf Darrell Clarke and give it Conor Hourihane fer't'rest o't'season. They're 10th, 8pts behind us.

Pies appoint Ryan Lowe, that certainly adds more spice for Schumacher in the upcoming game, master vs the apprentice style.

Not that it means much, given the current state of play, but Skybet have us at 15/2 for promotion now, whilst Huddersfield are 7/2. Charlton are 2/1 based on the odds I’ve just seen this morning. I know nothing about betting, other than that there are no poor bookies and lots of poor gamblers, but that seems a really big spread given the small points distance between the 3-7th places?

Small bets can shift things a lot down there but must say the difference between us and Huddersfield is fairly surprising.

Reading's looks odd too, one further point back to us but out at 33/1, v Orient 3 further point back and 22/1. I know their ownership is in trouble and he's been told to sell, but are the EFL really likely to deny them promotion?!

Gareth Ainsworth leaves Shrewsbury for a rather surprising destination.

That is a surprising change. Thought he'd be looking up, not down, in his next move. Are Gillingham well backed? Do Shrewsbury have a few financial issues or half the squad out of contract?

Up this division, perhaps, but I wouldn't hold my breath for him getting another chance in the second tier any time soon.

He and his coaches spoke to Gillingham last spring but wanted to chase the possibility of working with a foreign team. That fell through and Gills had already gone for Mark Bonner instead (the former Cambridge boss, as opposed to Mark Bonnar the actor off of Guilt).

Bonner didn't work and neither did John Coleman (the former Accy boss, as opposed to Jono Coleman the dead TV presenter), so Gills circled back round. They triggered Shrewsbury's release fee for Ainsworth (the manager, as opposed to the village on the B6196 between Bolton and Bury), but there's no real suggestion they'll spend hugely in summer - indeed Ainsworth is talking about thinning their squad down a lot.

For the record, Rotherham have sacked Steve Evans. An Evatt-sized opening?

McDons would be perfect for Evatt. Some cash, lovely nice big pitch, and no supporters to piss off with sideways and backwards.

Weirdly, a mate of mine said this the other week. They're also very passing-heavy so their disparately-dotted array of 'fans' probably wopuldn't complain even if they could be heard. Not far from Casa Evatt, either - certainly nearer than his last two jobs.
