Re: The "Nothing to see here"Transfer thread
Seems to me like Dougie has swaggered in and talked up his abilities to get by on a shoestring and develop young players. He's been quoted as saying that he doesn't believe in buying his way to success as a manager. He's also talked up the sports science department and suggested it would make a huge difference to the club.
Seems like Eddie is holding him to this now and his talk of transfer frustration is all to do with trying to manage the expectations that his cockiness has created. Not slagging him off for this, I liked his self-confidence, but now we'll see after an awful start whether there's any substance to it.
Can't see anything other than a loan signing or two now, but get people fit and we could well push on 2nd half again for the playoffs. Best we can hope for anyway.
PS feck you Nixon, now you know what it's like to be blocked! Karma.

Here you go - re Hall.
BWFC can announce that the Professional Football Compensation Committee have set the compensation package with West Ham United for the transfer of Rob Hall.
An independent tribunal has ruled that Bolton must pay an initial sum of £450,000 with further appearance and potential promotion-based add-ons.

Looks like Spam remain everyone's darlings and we are the ones for a kicking.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

West Ham wanted over £1M for him. I suspect its come out more in our favour than theirs.

Just because you have a hunch he might be good? And it'll be all Eddie's fault if he fails here?
Breathtaking. Even more breathtaking that anyone could be taken in by this shit.
we don't even know there are proper sides to be taken - nor do we, as fans need to take one if there are!!
I can see the subtle bones of the future..
if we do well - dougie is ace
if we fail - dougie is still ace - but the club didn't back him
FWIW - I think we have a decent squad - certainly enough for a decent manager to get summat out of - and I fully expect dougie to get on and do that... when the window is closed - this will be long forgotten in most minds - and i think dougie will finish with a decent season at the helm... i still expect us to be in contention for the playoffs...

You do realise we went to get him don't you? We went to get him. Not the other way round.
He's been saying since before the season started before pre-season even that the squad isn't strong enough and we need more additions. This isn't a "oh shit we've lost a game". He has consistently said this.
Fans forum he said he felt we had about 13/14 players good enough, but after that we didn't.

I was pointing out what BWFCi had said. Its clear its all Nixon bullshit wirh a good dose of subtle climbdown from last weeks "super duper best ever Champions League here we come Dougie" hyper ventilating outburst.

^further to Plymouth's well-made point - if this bollox is gonna roll on - can it be moved to a new shiny thread where I could ignore it and not keep thinking we may have signed someone?

In a nutshell, he suggested he was so good he didn't need much money and disagreed with cheque-book management. He's now being taken at his word and is backtracking somewhat. Clearly it's not as simple as that, but there's an element of that I think.

We got him from Palace. We were selling the opportunity to him not the other way around.LeverEnd wrote:Of course I realise that. I doubt he left Palace because he thought we'd give him buttons in the transfer market to spend. Lets not forget he's said part of the reason he left Palace was their reluctance to bring in the players he wanted.
I don't think he's shy of asking for new players to be honest.

when dougie arrived - he said this:
"The club is geared up to getting back into the Premier League. There is an impressive setup and structure in place, and a first team squad of undoubted quality."
he was happy with the structure, the setup and the squad (which he thought was of undoubted quality).

He's not saying it now though is he?
My point is that IF it is Dougie's fault and the squad is perfectly fine to get promoted, then Eddie has it within his powers to change that. He's employed Dougie so is he backing his manager's judgement or not?

As I recall we doubled his salary. Perhaps he could give half that back towards a new player?BWFC_Insane wrote:We got him from Palace.
