Can't you leave spaces blank if you don't have enough English players? I mean obviously they'd rather not leave blanks, but if they were willing to let him go out on a window-to-window (they're ones you can't recall from right?) it means they'd absolutely no intention of playing him anyway.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Depends if they need his Englishness for numbers in PL or CL squadsCAPSLOCK wrote:Dunno why I asked you then!
You'd hope if it worked out we could get him til the end of the season

Yeah you can leave spaces blank - the rule is actually that you can only have X-many players who aren't home-trained or club-trained.Prufrock wrote:Can't you leave spaces blank if you don't have enough English players? Actually that's a point: he might not even count as English...
And no, you can't recall from a w2w loan.

Interesting to read (in an interview with erstwhile Wanderer John Salako) that Shola Ameobi was approached by Alan Pardew to be first-team coach at Crystal Palace this season but turned it down to concentrate on playing.

I don't think he would count as 'homegrown' as far the rules go anyway, as he's spent his whole footballing career in Australia so wouldn't count towards any homegrown quotas. He might count if he retains dual nationality but I'm not sure on how that would work.Prufrock wrote:Can't you leave spaces blank if you don't have enough English players? Fabregas counts as homegrown despite his nationality because he spent at least 3 years in his teens in this country.

Not sure you're right about Fabregas, he did at Arsenal due to him coming through their youth side, but due to him going back to Spain I'm not sure if it counts towards Chelseas quota of "Home grown".danardif1 wrote:I don't think he would count as 'homegrown' as far the rules go anyway, as he's spent his whole footballing career in Australia so wouldn't count towards any homegrown quotas. Re: If carlsberg did transfer threads.....This would be it!
There are two different homegrown status', 'trained at club' and 'trained in nation', so in Fabregas' case his 'trained at club' was Arsenal but as that was in England he now counts as a 'trained in nation' to Chelsea... I believe clubs have to have a certain number of both. The trained in nation status is there to allow foreign-born players to count as homegrown if they spent their youth team years at English clubs.wigan white wrote:Not sure you're right about Fabregas, he did at Arsenal due to him coming through their youth side, but due to him going back to Spain I'm not sure if it counts towards Chelseas quota of "Home grown".danardif1 wrote:I don't think he would count as 'homegrown' as far the rules go anyway, as he's spent his whole footballing career in Australia so wouldn't count towards any homegrown quotas. Brattan would count as neither, so there's no way he's been brought in by City to fill any quotas, because even if he still had a UK passport he'd then only count as a standard EU player which there are no quotas attached to.

Mate I play with is a Wednesday fan. Reckons they paid £500k just as a loan fee, and are paying all his £32kpw wages!
I *think* we may have been some way away from making that happen!

I've just seen the Weds-Forest highlights. On as a sub, Hooper was waddling around at quarter pace. Obviously he'll score against us...Prufrock wrote:Mate I play with is a Wednesday fan. Reckons they paid £500k just as a loan fee, and are paying all his £32kpw wages!

Soooo......according to "The Oracle"- Heskey could be on the way out, as he's been offered a coaching job. Could release a few pennies? Maybe? Hopefully
