^^ only Bannan counts from that list, really.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

^^^ Exactly!BWFC_Insane wrote:He's not hard done by. He's wasted the money he's had on players he won't even play. Now a couple of months in and he's pretty much being told there's nowt left.BWFC_Insane wrote:I think the BN are trying to sensationalise nothing here. Ermm so you do know why?
Everyone knows why. It is very simple, for years we spent more than we earned, subsidised by Eddie. Eddie doesn't want to invest anymore and hence we need to reduce our outgoings to a level commensurate with our incomings. If anyone doesn't know that they must be living on the moon or be a bit thick.
Nobody knows why Eddie isn't investing anymore, but does that matter? No.
If so, I can see him walking before Xmas
He's changed his tune only because the results are dire and his signings look poor.

Defence is an issue, but not the main one.bobo the clown wrote:Defence should NOT be out issue.
Five teams have conceded more than us - Fulham, QPR, Charlton, Bristol City and Rotherham - and we've kept more clean sheets (four) than eight other teams.
But those four clean sheets have only yielded four points, because we can't hit a barn door with a cow's arse.
Having scored 10 goals in 15 games, it takes us an average of three halves of football per goal.
Our goal return is the lowest in the entire Football League, and we've fired nine blanks - two more than any other team in the division.
Lennon had to get strikers in, with Eidur going and ALF out of our price range. I wonder now whether he regrets not offering (or not being able to offer) Craig Davies an extension, because Madine, Dobbie, Heskey and Ameobi have not (yet?) been successes.

Ameobi isn't a failure yet, either.

True, and you could argue that because Dobbie's only had an hour more than Shola, maybe he's not yet a failure either.Lost Leopard Spot wrote:Ameobi isn't a failure yet, either.
But neither is yet a success.

Indeed not. Coke 3 starts + 1 sub, Twardzik 1 start + 2 subs, Slavchev 0 starts + 1 sub.bobo the clown wrote:Bannan did at least make an imprint ... if only on a hotel door.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Why? According to Marc Iles on twatter, he has been told the names in confidence. One has been a week in the chasing, but neither will feature tomorrow even if they go through.
Uma mesa para um, faz favor. Obrigado.

He's also indicated that at least one of them is a winger in a reply to another twit

From what I remember we seem to hit double figures for shots attempted in most games... and the shots on target figure does fluctuate more but we've had games this season where the ratio of shots to ones on target has been quite high and we STILL can't score. We're getting the shots away but they're either in positions where they're not effective or we just plain miss.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Defence is an issue, but not the main one.bobo the clown wrote:Defence should NOT be out issue.

Had a bit of a look...
In 15 league games, we've attempted 181 shots on goal (BBC match report stats), with only 55 (30.4%) of those being on target and only 10 (5.5%) of those being goals. We average 12 shots a game but only 3.66 are on target. That is downright awful, and whether blame can be put on the defence for letting goals in or not we can be sure that the bigger problems are up top, and it's not for a lack of opportunity.
As a comparison I'll do the same for the league leaders Hull and see what we find...
In Hull's 15 league games so far they've attempted more shots than us (215 to our 181), but their percentage of those that are on target is only slightly higher at 34%. However, 10.7% of their total shots are goals compared to our meagre 5.5%. They average 14 shots a game and 4.8 on target, but crucially score 1.5 goals a game as well.
From this we could take the conclusion that whilst we are attempting and getting on target a not dissimilar amount of shots to the league leaders, we lag far behind on converting them. It would take deeper analysis than just these figures to find out why, but to me it looks like we shoot from bad positions and/or we just simply don't take good enough ones when in better positions. The number of headers that Madine has sent wide is testament to this, as well as a number of shots from midfield that have been sent high into the stands...

We've apparently signed Wolves winger Rajid Van la Para and Liverpool's Portugese starlet Joao Teixierra and they may figure today?
