Just watching highlights and Steinsson is my MOTM for his sneaky little nudge on Samba to put him off that header right at the death. Reckon Samba would have buried it if it hadn't been for that.ChrisC wrote:Debo wrote:Went down because Steinsson was going to kill him if he didn'tTals-biggest-fan wrote:Missed the first 20 of the 2nd half, can someone tell me what happened to Alonso as he was having a solid game in the first half!

Alonso played really well today, I hope it's nothing serious and he's okay for Monday.
Re: We're hit and we know we are: Bolton vs Jackburn
Well done to everyone at Ewood tonight. I was watching on t'stream and you came through loud and clear, even above the Kean Out chants, which is saying something. Can't fault the effort of the players today and you've got to think the support made a difference.

Especially by robbo, probably will not mind from maldini or r.carlos.One Hump Or Two? wrote:Looked like it was ankle/foot - didn't seem like it could be serious but he started calling for a sub straightaway, which isn't a good sign.ChrisC wrote:Tals-biggest-fan wrote:Missed the first 20 of the 2nd half, can someone tell me what happened to Alonso as he was having a solid game in the first half!
Blocked a cross out wide.. Didn't look anything out of the ordinary.. No twist etc so hopefully just over stretched.
Left side immediately started looking weak/vulnerable when he came off, not just because Robinson can't defend or indeed play football as we know it, but because he and Petrov don't seem to gel together. When Alonso was on, he and Petrov seemed to read each other really well, even in defence. Maybe the "Petrov doesn't like being shouted at" theory has something in it.

It's only a big win if we get 6 points from Newcastle and Wolves at home - 4 points at an absolute minimum.

Re: We're hit and we know we are: Bolton vs Jackburn
Heart rate is almost normal, but I'm still shaking my head as to why Samba had no central defenders near him in the middle of the goals when it was so obvious a cross was heading his way. But for Steinsonn we'd have had one point instead of three. Blackburn were far from good and their defence was almost as bad as ours; almost. Penned in the box again too much and Yakubu is a master at ball-shielding and accurate lay -offs. Not complaining, in fact absolutely delighted, but still a lot of work to do. Once again Jussi was doing the splits when it was pretty much a cert Yakubu would lob him.
Ah,okay, it'll be a pleasure toread the papers again, but we need to keepa grip ongames when we have a two-goal cushion. And Zat Knight MOTM? Reo Coker hands down for me.

Don't, not until the result on Monday.Holden midfielder wrote:Now my hopes are up again ...

Hope the fact Zat Knight got MOTM doesn't deter Coyle for dropping him for Wheater against Newcastle. Martin 'Pre-Season' Petrov actually played well in a proper game, Marcos 'Lego Head' Alonso looked good and I just hope his injury isn't serious, but the central midfield partnership stood out for me again.

We have to get two points minimum. The rest is bonus. Four, great, six fantasy. That said, COME ON YOU WHITES.jmjhb wrote:It's only a big win if we get 6 points from Newcastle and Wolves at home - 4 points at an absolute minimum.

Massive two games over Christmas now, massive. Absolute season shaper although I still fear for us very much.
Coyle's post-match comments are a bingo bonanza as always - he had to correct himself at one stage

I'll put this one down to post-match adrenaline.TANGODANCER wrote:Once again Jussi was doing the splits when it was pretty much a cert Yakubu would lob him.
Jussi's body position was fine for the situation he found himself in. If he stands up tall, Yakubu just passes it into the net along the ground. If the striker executes a perfect chip, not much you can do. The only fault for that goal was Cahill's, for letting Yakubu get the wrong side of him.

If we put in performances like that every week, real gutsy balls to the wall stuff, and still get relegated..then I couldn't give a feck and will re new my season ticket into the championship and beyond. However if we could match those levels of effort and determination week in, week out, than we'd be in the top half of the table already.
Maybe Owen knows his best team, maybe he knows who his new captain is. He's a few months late like but he's a club legend (

I'm not sure how to analyse what I've just watched...mental would be the right word..
Our fans were superb today.
I think they were absolutely bobbins but we still found a way of making life hard.
We had some pace and mobility going forwards and that showed today.
Spirit was better all round. Madness at the end, why we stretched the game out so much in injury time god knows...
Hear Robbo's was a penalty? Ah Well....
But please please please please lads, don't do what we did after Stoke...follow it up, two home wins, owt less and we are fooked still!

Re: We're hit and we know we are: Bolton vs Jackburn
Spot on TD - all Zat did was head unchallenged balls aimlessly forwards. Reo Cokers energy made that 442 work tonight - Muamba was very poor I thought.
Good win - but f*ck me if we had thrown it away at the death it would of been a disaster. Why did we stop attacking Pederson at full back in the second half? We'd of cruised if we had a third. I'll give them this one as nerves I guess.
Darren Pratley as well....f*ckin w*nker!!!
Steinsson, massive two fingers to Coyle tonight - was solid. Alonso, very good as well, shame he got injured, looked like a strain thing but can't see him playing on Boxing Day. Which means that pillock Robinson back in! No luck!!
Another massive plus was no Davies, Ngog worried them with his pace, even though he had his leg strapped and clearly isn't fully fit. Tuncay looked...errrm interesting when he came on, but at least he moves about and keeps the ball, chucking Davies on would of left them free to pile another man forward. So correct subs Owen, and team selection as well. Shame we didn't keep exposing them at left back, though Petrov did a massive job down the left - could of had another assist second half if his crossing had been a bit more accurate. Klasnic was ok, less of a goal threat but more work from him tonight I guess, without Davies.
Maybe we'll kick on; we've been here before though. Happy we've won but it means feck all if we lose Monday.

We had a few lucky breaks in our own box today as well - tempered with likely injuries to Alonso and Ngog mind.
