The fact he's using four strikers is encouraging for attacking football. Sordell and Craig Davies must still be pretty fresh for weekend.BWFC_Insane wrote: I don't get why Kevin Davies started. There must be some explanation as to why he started, though in the the last 4 games we have 12 points and nine goals, yet we haven't scored with KD on the pitch.
You can see why some may question his inclusion in the lineup.

Re: Tuesday night with Venkys
There's been loads of football played recently with more to come. We're rotating them and keeping them fresh. Davo played well and what better time to rest the others and give SKD a run out than in a derby at home. Especially against a young centre back (who he hammered)Wandering Willy wrote:TANGODANCER wrote:As I see it, pretty obvious with the two games a week, and No'gog apparently running his bollocks off, Dougie has to try and conserve some team energy somewhere. Re: Tuesday night with Venkys
After Tango, I'm probably SKDs biggest fan on here. Up until October, I dont care what anyone says, he was as effective as ever and was one of our best players.
That said I was very surprised to see him start last night. His presence does change the way we play. Ricketts, in particular, probably over relied on the long ball up to him but SKD to his credit won most of them. In fact he won the 1st 5 headers he went for in the 2nd half without anyone getting on the end of them.
To me, now, we do look more of a threat, and play better stuff when he's not playing. He does still have a role to play though. Once a legend...

Re: Tuesday night with Venkys
I think I was surprised at Davies' selection because we had a fresh Sordell and another Davies who has hardly played for the last few months.
I'm all for squad rotation.
I just think the game bypasses Kevin Davies to a large extent and his lack of mobility and running stifles us. Craig Davies isn't some brilliant skill merchant but he works his socks off and chases the defenders and keeper down. Kevin Davies doesn't. He stands and looks confused.
I thought he did ok in the air, but we aren't really set up to play off that anymore. And sadly you need to do a bit more now than win some flick ons.
NGog had an excellent game IMO.

I would have some respect for the guy if he come on now and celebrated with the rest of us. What Bolton fan wouldn't be exstatic with the turn around and current run?

It also means we have beaten them ON AGGREGATE!! so that's THREE wins - home, away and on aggregate

Re: Tuesday night with Venkys

Re: Tuesday night with Venkys
Quite possibly the greatest night in British football.
Already laughing at United getting dumped out by a ref who had the temerity to give a 90/10 decision AGAINST the mighty Red's.
I ran upstairs and did a little dance of glee with eldest as news of Eagles' winner came through teh twitters.
Great!
COYWM!

I'm not asking you to 'think outside the box' I just wish you'd have a rummage around in it once in a while.

If you did your job that well you'd get sacked. So should he be. I'll stand to be corrected, but the way it sounded Lonergan had the first one covered and the second skimmed the woodworkTals-biggest-fan wrote:Clearly the daily mail left early

I only remember the one just before half time when they hit a free kick hard and low towards the near post and their guy got a foot on it which skimmed the top of the bar
