Our work here is done. 8)

I'm getting a nosebleed with the speed our "goals for" column is ticking over at the moment, with all these fast pacy strikers. :D

Aye it's feckin' grim. Where's that buck stopped at the moment? :)
The buck is pretty much always with the Manager - whilst we're bemoaning our finances, I'd be very surprised if we weren't near the top of the Division in terms of wages, even if we don't have much for Transfers.

How some of the team can be "that bad they've been loaned out" after the last few games I've seen is bizarre. Sordell is a mystery, given we paid some decent wedge for him and have a set of clueless twunts upfront that can't hit a cows arse. I can only assume Dougie was hoping he bagged 3 in 5 and Charlton put in a cheeky bid...

In fairness, as a 35 year old frontman, was he any worse than all these "strikers" we have? If he'd been on the bench today he'd have been on there at half-time. At least when he pulled a shirt on he was Bolton. Not sure some of these guys are. Much of our play today could be called "aimless" in more ways than one. Our careless passing is killing us and I'm not sure why we look two yards slower than every team we play. I'm sure there must be a plan to it all, it's just that I haven't figured it out yet. "You can take the man out of Bolton but you can't take Bolton out of the man". Yeah, hard to do if there's no Bolton in there to start with.

I know it'll come right in the end, I just wish it would make a start.

I coulda sworn one of the Palace fans said they were awful at the back (which I seem to recall they were), before they signed an ex-player as defensive coach? Can't remember his name, but I think he chose to stay put in the South....
Yeah, an Australian bloke, went on to become a coach in their A-League. Also, I think, the guy who recommended Jedinak.

EDIT: Twas former Palace stopper Tony Popovic. Left last summer.

said on opening day its criminal we've left the centre back situation as it is and the goals starting to flow against us now. didn't expect us to look so toothless at the other end though. no chance of promotion and even a small worry of doing a wolves. don't think that will happen but i believe it'll get worse before it gets better.

people calling for freedman to go, unsure really, have to give some time although if he did play pratley wide today after the success he had in the hole behind the striker it's just amazingly stupid tbh.

also can't help but think how the guy must be kicking himself to have left palace for this mess. the squad is just flat out poor with the odd exception. what a mess previous managers have left it in. mainly coyle.

Today was embarrassing from start to finish cannot name one player which looked like they wanted to be playing for us we just stood there watching them pass the ball round. I lost count the amount of times a Blackburn player went 50 yards without a Bolton player making an attempt to either close down or tackle. It has got to improve and fast!

Maybe no lower, but the defeats could get worse. 12-0 to Wigan would hurt pretty bad

Problem is that Prats in the hole means a lack of creativity - he won't really set anything up for anyone else. Not having a go at Prats, that's just not his game. DF (and here I agree) would rather have a player like Mark Davies, Chris Eagles, Andre Moritz or David Ngog there. So he ends up playing Pratley wide right hoping he can still make late runs into the box and score - which to be fair is exactly what happened against Reading, for 50% of Prats' goals this season.

“@MarcIles: Paraphrasing but DF hinted that some players could be 'moved on' as he felt the effort wasn't there. Not a happy chappy... but then who is?”

well - yes - except he ruled out "doing a wolves" - so was not talking about relegation!

The most disappointing thing is that I didn't put a bet on this.

aaaaaaaaaaanyway - a crappy start to the season - and a crappy, rubbish thumping in a local derby..

can i just say (before the forum explodes and it becomes untrue!) - that the reaction so far has been civilised and humorous - even noting the passions involved....

it's a serious business - but time like this are always easier to swallow with some well placed black humour, i think..

bravo TW! :oyea:

Think Dougie was trying to remain calm in that interview, seemed like he was angry with certain players.

the best thing freedman can do is to move on some of the overrated sh*te we have on the books but we aren't playing fm here and it's not easy. i do wonder if our little run toward the end of last season (which was a bit fortuitous imo) clouded his judgement a bit in the summer.

either way, it's hard to overhaul too much at once.
