According to Iles, the deal was costing us 8 grand per week, but fell through as there is absolutely nothing left in the pot. That could just be because the club can't increase expenditure and expose the new owners to an increased operating cost?

if that's true - and I hope it isn't - then it puts a different gloss on the "why is Garty never putting himself up for big interviews" gripes we had recently...

Blimey.

Firstly I'd wish Gary all the best. But if he is too ill to perform his duties then, at his rate of renumeration and the current situation he needs to step aside and convalesce in peace.

Secondly, there's broke & broke. Not being able to complete a 6 week loan deal really does put us in perspective ... and it's clearly getting worse by the week.

It's time to get the squad we have actually performing.

I have been hearing rumours for ages that Eddie is not well but not Gartside. Where did you read this Insane?

yes - 100% - absolutely. This has been Lenny's job all along - it's what I hoped he'd be able to do... I am losing faith that he has the skill/experience/patience/bottle/cahoonas/smarts/personality to do it... but I haven't totally lost faith... I think he might lose patience before I lose faith... (and if he does - he can feck off having not done the job he was supposed to do...) if he doesn't - then he has my support and patience through these difficult times...

That 6 week Salary would probably buy a promising youngster from the lower leagues! This is the Arena we are shopping in now,and I really don't think we need another non-scoring winger..Priority surely has to be (work like feck) in trying to unearth a quality striker for a bag of washers! They're out there I tell thee!

Edit:Jamie Vardy being a prime example

Marc Iles saying it. It's all over his twitter.

Obviously he can't verify it to be true or not but it is what the club are saying. Eddie Davies as reported by Iles is leading on the negotiations.

Though as Iles has said nobody will confirm whether there are negotiations taking place or at what stage they are at.

These are really very bleak days. We desperately need a hero to emerge from somewhere and spearhead something towards a revival.

Oh and want to also echo thoughts of others in sincerely hoping Gartside is ok and makes a full recovery.

Don't think I would like someone spending more money on "something" while I am negotiating a take over deal to take over that same "something". We should be negotiating on a firm position and not a fluctuating one. Shouldn't we?

That's right £1m to Leicester, but I was watching him play For Fleetwood in their breakthrough season and saying to people at the games,He,ll get snapped up and play at the top level..

It would be a real coup if we were to unearth a similar gem before they get a big money move!
Pipe dream I know, but we have to have hopes

Got a link to the tweet Insane? I'd heard ED is leading the supposed negotiations but I can't find one re PG's health, and nothing has appeared on my feed. Don't like the guy but hope he has a speedy recovery if he is, no one deserves poor health. Must admit the timing is a little odd though, even if just coincidental.

This is all very bizarre, and I'm not sure what I buy into. If the pot is now empty as some people have said, why was Lennon given permission to look for and sign a player on loan? That sort of thing would have been noticed before advanced negotiations. Is a takeover imminent, so we're under embargo due to genuinely not knowing budgets? Again I think that is unlikely because I don't hold much stock by these takeover talks. Really pessimistic now, and dreading going to the Reading game this weekend...

@MarcIles Gartside needs to break his silence and start saying 'I salute you Mr Magpie' when he sees one. School boy error #bwfc

Marc Iles ‏@MarcIles 7h7 hours ago

@SuperWhiteSmurf won't happen. He is very poorly.

Ian Firth ‏@SuperWhiteSmurf 7h7 hours ago

@MarcIles is he really ill Marc? I don't wish him ill and apologies for sounding heartless, but I don't trust him, so got to ask?

Marc Iles ‏@MarcIles 7h7 hours ago

@SuperWhiteSmurf club saying so - can only take it on face value.

It's not Gartside, unless it happened in the last couple of weeks.

Forensic football rag The Daily Star is saying tonight that Amir Khan is one of those behind a £15m takeover.

I'd link to the report but since it fails to mention Stu Francis or Vernon Kay I'm not sure as to its veracity.

And don't forget Vernon Kay's wife Tess. She can give us a plug or two on Strictly and might get Claudia Winkleman to wear a Bolton shirt.
